I LOVE Dean Ambrose and even love the name Dean Ambrose. However, I've never been a fan of the word lunatic (fringe could work if it went with something else). Also, it sounds a little on the nose declaring, "THIS A WRESTLER'S NICKNAME." Like the devil's favorite demon. Not simple and organic like the hammer or the nature boy.

It's better if you think they're talking about his hairline.

It's forced as hell, detracts from Ambrose, and makes me think of that Red Rider song.

It's better than CLB. But that's not saying much. Is it really a wrestling nickname if the only person who ever uses it is the shilling announcer?

It doesn't make much sense. Since a Lunatic Fringe is someone in a group.

Lunatic Fringe? Kurt Angle used a rip off of that as his theme in TNA Kurt Angle return confirmed

It seems like one of the words or phrases WWE randomly, excessively loves.
Like 'attitudinal', 'abeyance', etc.

It's very 'entertainy', but WWE will make it stick because they know best.

I think I liked it better when he was part of the Shield but it doesn't bother me that they still use it. It doesn't make much sense. Since a Lunatic Fringe is someone in a group. WWE is a group as is Society as a whole.

It's as bad as CONTROLLED FRENZY was for Kofi. Like...it's a frenzy, a frenzy CAN'T BE CONTROLLED otherwise it's not a frenzy.
And Lunatic Fringe is a good name for a finisher, but a stupid wrestler nickname.

I wouldn't say it's so explicitly a "wrestler's nickname" since I've rarely heard the term "lunatic fringe" outside of politics, but it's still a bad nickname, specifically for the reason Dean F'n Ambrose stated. Fringe is a relative term. It means the farthest point of an edge. And there can only be an edge if there's a greater whole. You can't be a fringe if you're solo.

It's better if you think they're talking about his hairline. I honestly think that is a good 75% of why they keep using it, since it describes his hair rather perfectly.

WWE really needs to stay away from nicknames that aren't just abbreviations/shortened names (RVD, Triple H, Y2J, 'Taker, etc.) or very simple nicknames (The Hitman, The Snake, Stone Cold, etc.).
No one outside of the commentary team is going to say "the devil's favorite demon" or "the eater of worlds" when they can just say "Kane" or "Bray Wyatt."

Sounds like a cookie cutter Michael Cole soundbite, like "controlled frenzy" or "vintage".

I get what they're trying to do, but Dean's better without a nickname.
