If this tweet is legit, Arda Ocal has joined his Aftermath friend Renee Pacquette (now Renee Young) in the WWE...
Appears his WWE name will be Kyle Edwards. So the old Score (now Sportsnet 360) is the breeding ground for WWE on-screen announcing talent, it seems.

I have no idea why the WWE makes their announcers use stage names. I don't even mean that as a criticism - it doesn't impact my enjoyment of the show in any way, and I doubt their announcers suffer much from it either. It's just, why? It seriously mystifies me.

What an unusual name.
And Arda Ocal is pretty weird, too.

Korderas should come back and change his name to Eddie O'Reilly.

After all the shit with CM Punk they're making sure that they own every aspect of a talent that they possibly can. It probably benefits the talent too. The name 'Kyle Edwards' sounds very familiar for some reason.

Is the daily WWE Network studio show still planned to go ahead? Not heard much about it, could be the host of that.

I can't imagine an announcer using his name elsewhere being...anything. That's just such a weird practice. I understand the idea of giving wrestlers a different name, they are characters and all. I understand why you would want to give a character a different name. Giving an announcer a name so they can't use their name elsewhere is...well. I can't really imagine a scenario where someone goes 'SCOTT STANFORD IS ANNOUNCING THIS PAY PER VIEW? WELL f*** YOU WWE THEN, I'M GONNA GO WATCH THIS INDIE FED." Like I seriously cannot comprehend it.

Sure, if CM Punk weren't retired, he can go on his merry way being CM Punk and wrestle for the major indies. But guys like him are the exception that prove the rule. There are guys in WWE stuck doing very little, wasting their prime years who I would love nothing more than for WWE to set them free so they can revamp their careers on the indie scene and redeem themselves before they get too old and washed up. And they can't use the name that they are most known as once they leave, and even if they can, they can't be filmed for TV, iPPV, DVDs, which hurts their their value to indie promoters, and basically makes them persona non grata.

Michael Cole is a gimmick name, too.

Michael Cole is a gimmick name, too. Michael Cole's actual first name is Sean, which would lead to confusion with Shawn Michaels. Is there really anyone else in the world named Arda Ocal?

That is, names that can roll right off the tongue when someone says them. Which of these would probably be easier to say if you had to hear them every week: Michael Coulthard or Michael Cole? Josh Lomberger or Josh Mathews? Renee Paquette or Renee Young? If I ever got an on-air job with WWE, the company would almost certainly give me a stage name because most everyone screws my last name up.

Never understood the argument against WWE giving people new names. It's not as if shows where ex-WWE talents on it aren't advertised heavily through posters and stuff. People will know them by look, not by name.

Maybe for some but not for others. If I was Braden Walker or Tyler Reks I'd want to get as far away from that name as possible.

"Kyle Edwards" brings to mind someone who's in NASCAR.

Braden Walker is best known as Wildcat Chris Harris, of course he's not going to use that name. But I'd go to an Indy show to see "Tyler Reks".
