I watched it for the first time last night. I heard good things, but I was still skeptical. It was great and that Quicksilver sequence... HOLY SHIT!

It more than holds up. Best of the series, and best non-Marvel produced Marvel movie ever.

It's okay for what it is: a bad X-Men movie with decent moments and a couple of good actors.
I nearly spat out my drink when I saw the plot had to do with getting Mystique's blood and tissue to power adaptable sentinels when that shit didn't even make sense.
You LITERALLY HAD A DUDE WITH A POWER WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ULTIMATE ADAPTABILITY, but nope, he was somehow killed off for no reason. It would've been nice had that actually figured into the damn plot, but no. Like I said, this is a bad X-Men movie.
Hollywood has yet to make a good one so I wasn't surprised DoFP was as absurd as it was.

I watched it for the first time last night and loved it.
I felt the future sequences were a bit dull since, despite reading the comics, I didn't get who some of the mutants were initially and I think the film would have worked fine without cutting back to the future.
But other than that, awesome. My only other complaint is that Quicksilver should have accompanied them until the end of the movie. He was freaking amazing. Hopefully, in the next one, Quicksilver has an extended role.

I thought it was extremely "meh" and I'm not even a tough critic.Really wish I could say I liked it.

If I had a better connection with First Class, I probably wouldn't have liked it. But not having a connection to that, I liked it quite a bit.

I really enjoyed it after re-watching it. I still prefer First Class, but it's the tiniest of gaps between them.

Held up on the second and third watches. Great movie. First Class and Days of Future Past restored my faith in the franchise. When I first learned about the First Class lineup, I wasn't excited. Mystique in the movies had been my least favorite character, and you can only take so much of Charles and Eric's friendship/rivalry. I've never been a huge Beast fan, and then you had two of my least favorite characters rounding out the team, Banshee and Havoc.
But then I saw Days of Future Past, because it's always been my favorite story in the comics and cartoons. And I was blown away. I knew enough about First Class to follow the plot and it was the X-Men movie I wanted almost 15 years ago. So the next night, I watched First Class and I couldn't believe how much thought went into it, where every character had motivation, nobody felt wasted, I couldn't believe it.
I have huge expectations now for Apocalypse, but I think it'll measure up. But I swear to god, we better get the Brotherhood they hinted at in Days of Future Past(Toad, Ink, Spyke, Quicksilver, maybe Havoc?) Either way though, I can't wait for 2016.

Since using his DNA was out using Mystique was a reasonable step down. While it took them decades to use the DNA to make the adapting Sentinels, if he had been around they might have had them much sooner.

None of that is addressed anywhere in the movie so all that is just headcanon. You can't really explain that to me in a way that sounds reasonable; him dying because of what Sebastian did wasn't justified considering what Darwin's power was literally demonstrated to be. It wasn't even a power he had to activate consciously. Mystique's power was to look however she wanted. The movie wanted to act like the powers were similar because...reasons? I don't even know why. That was one of those instances where the character died literally because a writer or director just decided he should kill off the lone Black guy and then act like he never existed...despite the fact you had Sentinels running around WITH THE EXACT SAME POWER HE HAD. But no, they got that from Mystique. What-the-f***-ever, movie.

The same movie that killed Darwin also demonstrated that Mystique's DNA does more than simply alter her appearance and make her extremely fast, agile, and strong. A dose of medication derived of her serum amplified Beast's mutations. This is what makes it possible for the Sentinels to do their adaptation. You see throughout the movie that Trask was collecting mutant DNA through the years. With Mystique's DNA you could simply imprint all of those mutant DNA into the Sentinels and use her DNA to activate and amplify those mutant powers for the Sentinels as needed.

Amplification is not adaptation. Her power isn't adaptation. Never has been, never will be. You see how ridiculous and flimsy it gets trying to finagle Mystique into this part of the storyline? They really could have just said Darwin actually is still alive (there's no reason why he shouldn't be), is in their custody and they were using his blood and tissue to study mutants and eventually design Sentinels? You know, the ones that adapt to the powers thrown at them.

i really really disliked it
They wasted pretty much all the salvaging that was done by First Class, caused a ton of continuity issues and then hit the hard reset button at the end
was pointless and stupid
and i wont enjoy another x-film until we get Rebecca Romijn back, Jennifer Lawrence is over rated
