Wait, does anyone here ACTUALLY believe that Roman was VOTED for as the Superstar of the Year? Of course he wasn't! Did WWE rig the poll? Of course they did!
Why else would Roman be backstage in gorilla position, prepped for a television appearance? If he didn't win, then what? Would he have walked out anyway to say "hey, by the way, I still exist and will be back soon!"
Even going solely by the video packages for each nominee, Roman's "win" was completely fabricated. For every other Superstar, they actually accomplished something this year and had some really great matches. Meanwhile, Roman wrestled like 5 singles matches the entire year. According to his video package, all it takes to win Superstar of the Year is to jump around punching people, eliminate over 10 guys from the Royal Rumble, and then spear Batista.

Ya know what would make me mind less? If he finally gets rid of his Shield gear and music. The other two have struck out on their own and moved on, yet he's the douche who's still running around like the Shield's still a thing. I see it as the Shield basically got a divorce, and Roman ended up winning custody of their theme and gear.

Also The Shield is still a thing, this is just a spat between brothers. They will soon be back together to combat injustice. Believe that.

Jack Palance read his name by mistake, and they were too embarrassed to correct him.

If you complain that you're hungry and someone shits on your plate and tells you to eat up, you're still allowed to complain. Honestly, I think I get less annoyed by the things WWE does and more by the, "If you have an Internet connection every one of your opinions is wrong, so says I with my Internet connection," attitude that's so commonplace here lately.

It's almost as if we have a will of our own and don't respond well to average guys being pushed ahead of superior talents who have more fan support. Reigns may well become a worthy star, but he's a long way from being a superstar of the year candidate at this point in time and the 'chosen one' pushes always seem to do more harm than good in the long term.

True. I think the backlash against Reigns is way over the top. At the same time, how about letting a star organically connect with the fans and THEN giving him the mega push. I feel like I mention Austin too much, so want to cite someone else but Austin is a perfect example. Imagine if in 96 as Austin was starting to heat up Vince decided he was going to strap the rocket to Marc Mero come hell or highwater. "PUSH MARC MERO HARDER DAMMIT" And forcing and forcing Luger as the next Hogan didn´t work out too well either. You can watch Hogan's stuff back and its great. Try to watch the Lex Express back without cringing. Sure Hogan got a mega push too, but he was the right guy and he was already popular.

Didn't he do that already with his run as part of The Shield? Seriously, I really don't want to have to ask if some people think those big reactions were just for Rollins and Ambrose.

I have grown to like Roman because of the over-the-top-hate he gets. Watching people lose their minds over him is fairly entertaining.

It was the unit as a whole. He was a big part of what made it work, yeah, but he really hasn't been able to translate it into much as a solo star and it feels like they're doing everything possible to keep from giving him his own identity to try and leech off of the residual love for the Shield.

I, for one, welcome our new silky mane, handsome Samoan overlord. Besides why get so pissed off by a kayfabe award that has no value or meaning if you're not Owen Hart? The Slammys don't mean shit in the grand scheme of things and nothing is guaranteed that Reigns will be a certified main eventer in 2 years. I remember countless, hated wrestlers who get their big pushes stopped and the Net suddenly becoming fans of those folks because WWE is keeping them down.

I think I hated the "make Reigns look strong" meme before it even existed.

I think I hated the "make Reigns look strong" meme before it even existed. It's just put a "name" to a sentiment many have had for months. As for Reigns keeping the Shield attire... Well, it really can go either way. Either he does what Bret Hart did with the pink and black Hart Foundation attire and make it his own (personally, I like the Tron effect he seems to be going for), or he ends up like Marty Jannetty in 1996.
