I've made it pretty clear on here before that I am not really a fan of young Dolph Ziggler. I must come on here and say this. He came off like a megastar tonight. He cut a solid, firey babyface promo before the match about how he was going to overcome the odds. He got the shit kicked out him by Harper but, despite the size disadvantage, he fought and fought and fought like a great babyface should. Finally, after getting his ass beat from seemingly every direction, he manages to pull the win out of his ass because he's a babyface and he's awesome. EVERYBODY CHEERS! After the match, he cuts another good babyface promo talking about how he's a good guy that's ready to break through the glass ceiling and fight off anybody to hang onto his IC title! Again, EVERYBODY CHEERS!
How can you not get behind him? It's such simple booking but it's so well done. He's easily the hottest face in the company right now, he should be the one getting the match with Lesnar at WM. Screw long-term plans, don't try to force a square through a round hole with Roman when you have a perfectly good circle in Ziggler.

Dolph enduring a fight with Harper and winning seems like foreshadowing for a potential showdown with Lesnar.

He's got substance. It's what fans crave.

He is who I'd go with. He is in the spot where they could make him something huge. He has that perfect storm of overness, ring work, mic work and (whether intended or not and I lean not) solid booking that makes sense.

I would give the Rumble win to Ziggler or Ryback because of tonight. But with Lesnar as champion then Ziggler should get it. Ryback would be hard to book leading to Mania and WWE would screw it up. Anybody but Lesnar as champion Ryback could win the Rumble.
Ziggler is so freaking easy to book going into the Rumble and Mania, WWE would be insane not to capitalize on it. Reigns is in the same position as Sheamus in my view. But he doesn't even have half the talent Sheamus does. Sheamus was able to get two good matches out of Show in 2012.
ZIGGLER NEEDS THE ROCKET. Or WWE will probably end up copyrighting the Showoff Movement when they see they screwed up and people don't accept their narrative. I hope Ziggler's pops get louder and louder in 4 weeks weeks time. Have Ziggler and Reigns be the last two and see what the people want and throw in a audible. I guarantee Ziggler would out pop Reigns.

We can only hope. Ziggler using his head and his wrestling skills to beat Lesnar instead of every other opponent of Lesnar's trying to out-fight him would be a great Wrestlemania story. The real draw for me would be to watch Lesnar throw Zigs around and Ziggler bumps and sells all of it. These two could be made for each other.

They didn't play the hot hand last year. They should make the easy call.
Roman doesn't need the Rumble. It could really seal Ziggler though.

Ziggler can't be pinned because every time Lesnar tries to F5 him he ends up flying out of the ring.

I get the feeling that Ziggler's a break in case of emergency pick to win in case the wheels fall off of the Roman Express fast before The Rumble and, if that's not the case, then they're doing an awfully good job at making it seem like that. I mean, the guy is presented as the savior of WWE for winning the Survivor Series match, then he wins the Intercontinental Championship back in a match they present as a big hometown win, after that he cuts a series of promos about 2015 being "the year" for him and retains the title in a great underdog match-up where they paint Luke Harper as this complete monster. Hell, this was the banter the announcers said after the post-match promo:
That was some full on backing of Dolph Ziggler as the next top guy.
Meanwhile, Roman Reigns beats The Big Show by count out and they proceed to act like Roman got this huge win over Show. Something that approximately seven people bought.
So, on paper, Ziggler should win The Royal Rumble and face Lesnar for the title, but, knowing WWE, Reigns will win and somehow be surprised that the crowd isn't as receptive to him as Ziggler.

This is a great idea but I'd much rather want to see Roman get booed the hell out of the arena by both Philly and Santa Clara.

Normally, I'd be down for that, but I spent a mini-fortune in Wrestlemania tickets, so I'm hoping all of that happens before the Rumble so I can see a good main-event. So, run some more Big Show matches, please.

I'm slowly starting to get that feeling that we will see a repeat of last year if Roman wins The Rumble. I know Vince has wet dreams of 2 big men going at it at WrestleMania like in the good old days but it will blow up in his face. And I don't even dislike Reigns.
If they truly "listen" to their fans for once, Ziggler is main eventing WrestleMania. To me it's a bigger feel good story then Bryan was last year.

I'd rather see an enjoyable main event than a bunch of smarks chanting "CM Punk" all night because they're salty about who's main eventing, but whatever floats your boat. As I said in the RAW thread, this Ziggler push is weird if this scenario isn't where they are going with him. Why would you build this guy up to this extent and not follow through to the most logical conclusion? What else could they possibly be building toward?

Ziggler winning the rumble would be really shitty. I like Ziggler and all but good lord him with the title would be some of the most boring shit ever.
They've bumped him up the card a little and that's good. He should hang out there for now.
Yes I know if it came down to him and a few others it'd be hype. Even him winning would be hype. But after that? It'd be pretty bleah.

The problem with getting behind Dolph is that they did it way too late for Dolph to be getting a main event push right now. Assuming that Brock Lesnar is retaining at the Royal Rumble, how would you fit Dolph Ziggler into a match with him while also having John Cena, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and (possibly) Daniel Bryan to also find spots for? They should've pulled the trigger on Dolph Ziggler a long time ago.

Win or lose, I'd think this would be a much more productive way to get Roman over than rushing him to the title), Rollins/Ambrose (Ambrose never got his clean win over Rollins). Bryan probably ain't coming back so I'm not really considering any potential Mania matches for him. He could face Bray or somebody, I guess.

Fair enough, but I think they'd have to build up Ziggler/Lesnar extremely well for people to think that Dolph could win against Brock Lesnar and I'm not sure they're willing to do that yet. Also maybe it's just me, but Rollins vs. Ambrose almost seems like a step down for Seth Rollins after how heavily he's been in the main event mix and how Dean Ambrose has fallen.

We already had the "small babyface having the shit beat out of him and winning" last year at Mania. I'm not saying this could not work but I'd rather watch a competitive match.

I'd like for people to look back at my post. It just will not work. Not yet. It'd be fun when he won and then good lord are you wanting to see a Ziggler title feud? His talking quite honestly is awful.
What if he drove a title feud and won? You want to see Ziggler talk mid ring with the title in his hand for a bit? I mean he can talk about how he loves the fans and they can go "yay" etc. But what about beyond that? There's no Authority to cover the spaces.

I'd say Ziggler. Nothing against Ambrose, as I'm a huge Ambrose fan as well as a Ziggler fan, but Ambrose is currently not tied until the whole title/wins thing right now. He was dealing with Shield stuff and then moved onto Bray stuff. Getting Ambrose prepped for WM season and having him win the title wouldn't be bad, I'd love it personally but I think Ziggler's been on the title/wins/the guy/glass ceiling thing a bit more. Ziggler's been putting on amazing matches, defending his belt, he's been amazing.
It just works best from a storyline point of view to have Ziggler win the WWE Title based on how the storyline is right now and also based on his Survivor Series win came about.
