Give it time, with the spin machines, there will soon be a frontrunner movie that is deemed overrated and pretentious. Like American Hustle last year. I'm really the only person who likes Crash huh? Nope. I like it as well.

I'm really the only person who likes Crash huh? Nope. I like it as well. It's way too over the top for me to hate. The movie knows what it wants to do and the message it wants to deliver, it knows you know what that message is, and it doesn't care.

The more of think about this list the more awful it is. Gone Girl is honestly not even nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay or Score? And no one even f***ing liked American Sniper. Which sounds like something the Academy would love in that case then.

I haven't seen American Sniper, but I have to question all the backlash I've seen on here. Usually Clint Eastwood movies are pretty damn good, what sets this one apart from the others?

I liked it, it had some really powerful moments. But, it was pretty manipulative, and it was a year the gay cowboys needed to win.

I have seen it and I think it's worthy of a nomination, but I would have preferred Gone Girl, though these are very different types of movies. Bradley Cooper gives a great performance. I think some people have some problems with the real life Chris Kyle and they are holding it against the movie.

Might i ask why people dislike the real life Chris Kyle? I can't really find anything written on him that would indicate a strong dislike of him.

I really hope it's not some small BS rule that prevented The Lego Movie getting that Best Animated nomination. BS rules have prevented great films and roles from getting noms. "Oh we could not nominate the exceptional 'Senna' for best documentary cause it was entirely archive footage". Spoiler for Fight Club below... "Oh we would of loved to have nominated Edward Norton's awesome performance for best actor for 'Fight Club' but his character was played by two actors at the same time and for some reason that is not allowed." I don't think the spoilered bit actually happened or is a rule. They are supposed to only judge the performance, not the nature of the character. Fight Club didn't garner a lot of award buzz that year and neither did Norton. The nature of Norton's character you mentioned didn't keep him from being nominated. There is a rule about performance capture not being eligible for the best performance categories, though.

His movies since Iwo Jima have been pretty damn average. I thought Changeling and Gran Torino were actually pretty good, much better than Slumdog Millionaire. Invictus was pretty good too, at least on the same level as Hurt Locker. But were they his best movies? No. But I'd still say he's a better film maker than a lot of other people who nominated. Gravity winning Best Director last year was a f***in' joke.

I consider Ang Lee an extremely overrated director, but at the time I considered Brokeback Mountain to be one of his better movies. And considering it was a movie about two men who had heterosexual relationships throughout 98% of their life, I didn't exactly call it "the gay cowboy movie" since to me, that's overlooking the basis of the story itself.

I thought Munich should have won that year, but Brokeback would have been fine. Anything but Crash would have worked, really. Crash is an abomination to mankind.

I'm not sure if The Lego Movie's live-action scenes kept it from being nominated. Previous Oscar winner Wall-E had some live-action elements and not just The Hello Dolly! segments, but the Fred Willard videos. Of course the live-action in these two films was different as The Lego Movie had full scenes with Will Ferrell and the child.

How do you win for film editing? NOT screw up a cut scene?
