He-Man toys must have been cheaper than Transformers but a little bit more than GI Joes. I remember I had tons of Joes, lots of He-Men and very few Transformers.

I don't remember this, but my mom has told me a thousand times: When I was about 2, He-Man debuted, and I saw a commercial for the toys on tv and went crazy. The next time we went to K-Mart my parents planned to get me a He-Man action figure because I wanted it so bad. However, all they had was Skeletor. My mom was afraid that being so young it would scare me, but I loved it and had to have it. It was my first toy that wasn't a stuffed animal and I wanted to sleep with it (80's parents weren't as concerned about their kids being idiots and eating their toys weapons and stuff). I did eventually get He-Man (and pretty much all the toys except the last year or so of the line as I was getting older and more into G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Ninja Turtles instead) but I have always had a thing for skulls on my t-shirts and stuff which my mom believes is due to my fondness of Skeletor as a child.
And just to throw it out there, my sister loved She-Ranand had most of those toys so we would often play together and have crossovers.

A lot of the smaller ones (the Bumblebee types) were on par with GI Joe, the next size (like the ones that combined to create the big guys) were somewhere between the price of a Joe and He-Man. Once you got Soundwave-sized ones they were definitely higher than MOTU.

Loved the original line, was with it almost from day one, before the cartoon came along. Had about 95% of the line, almost had the massive Eternia, but my little brother screwed that up (he spotted our mom trying to sneak-buy it behind our backs, she got pissed and put it back).
Really digging the currently ongoing MOTUC line of figures. Loved the 2000s cartoon reboot, wish it had lasted longer.

I think He-man was the toy range that made me love villains at the expense of heroes.
I never had a he-man figure and the first one I got was Rattlor followed by Tonguelasher and Clawful.

I was a huge He-Man guy. I had all the toys that I could manage to con my struggling lower-middle class folks into buying me. (even though they stunk and you couldn't really articulate them as you could, say, a G.I. Joe)
It's just so classic. Skeletor had no purpose outside of being there solely to f*** with He-Man. Were he ever successful in defeating him, what would he do? I assume TAKE OVER THE WORLD, but I'd wager that his soul would have a nagging void in it that he just couldn't fill.
That might be a good bit, in fact, if it hasn't happened already. The villain wins. He gets what he supposedly set out for, but then falls into a depression because he misses his nemesis. It'd have to be something silly though, like Venture Bros. or Freakazoid.

He-Man has gotten infinitely better in years since, with the 2002 cartoon series developing new ideas/changes to make it all better in more modern years (I believe they were the ones to adjust Skeletor's lineage), and then the more recent comics that have really shaken EVERYTHING up ( {Spoiler}Sorceress RIP, Teela replaces her, Randor was King Hsss all along, and the wonderful little revelation that Adam = He-Man is pretty much common knowledge )
