Killed me. Shock at first, then a second or two of anger before I was overcome by a sadness. I've grown up with the Undertaker. When he lost, it was like my childhood died. It suddenly dawned on me how much the streak meant, even if I didn't realise it beforehand.
Half way through the main event I was worried that it had killed my love for wrestling because I just couldn't get into the match at all.

I was so convinced Taker was winning and I'm not a Taker fan anyway so I was barely paying attention and I was tired. So much so that I missed the three-count and had to rewind. I, like a lot of people, figured something had gone wrong and was shocked when the 21-1 appeared.
I'll never forget it - sitting in my flat at about 2am (I'm in the UK), frozen in shock.

I actually read spoilers on the forum before anything so I looked through the threads like this:
"21-1? What happened in January I missed?" "Oh, Cesaro won the Battle Royale, that's good." "Ooh, Usos are still Champions, not bad." "Seriously, what happened in January and why are people talking about it now?" "Bryan won? Sweet! Didn't expect that." "OK, what on Earth happened back in January? And why isn't there a thread about the Undertaker maaAAAAAAOOHHMMYGGAAAWWDDD..."

Same as most people. My mind desperately scrabbled for a way they could continue the match, then I thought it must have been a botch. Then I sat there in stunned silence for what felt like forever.
Finally I felt excited and happy because I didn't think I could still feel that way about wrestling.

See more on Know Your Meme(Credit to anybody that posts the Batista version.) I was there live. Me, my brother and our friend were stunned silent.

Absolute shock. I thought that Brock was just going to be another victim of the streak before he got paid and rolled out of the E again. Kudos to the WWE for keeping that a secret, because if it had been spoiled it would have really taken away from the moment.

"Shit, let me go make a catch-all thread before the entire forum explodes."
Thread was up and stickied before I even really grasped what I had just seen. Saddly, it feels like the last true shock I'll have as a wrestling fan. I just don't see how anything can make me feel more flabbergasted than that moment.

It almost helped that it wasn't a great match because it made it even more unexpected. Not that it was intentional but you know what I mean.

I feel like it kind of told the story better that Undertaker got hurt. Granted, I wish that he hadn't, but the Deadman getting picked part and crushed and brutalized, given Brock had to lead him through the offense, worked for what they were doing. It's kind of like how Mankind vs Undertaker in the Cell in some ways benefited, match drama-wise, from Mick getting hurt when the cage broke, and Undertaker had to lead him through it.

There's no doubt that the injuries that Taker suffered really helped add an extra aura to Brock. Not only did he end the streak but he brutalized Taker to such a degree that he couldn't sit up after the match and damn near had to be carried out. Sucks whenever anyone gets hurt but in this instance it really put over Brock as the ultimate wrecking machine.

Yeah, and I think Heyman even mentioned Vince having to ride with Taker to the hospital after the match and before Mania was over yet, in his victory promo thing he did.

I was in the Superdome watching the match. I don't think I ever stood up out of my chair quicker in my entire life then when that happened. I really though it had to be a ref botch until "21-1" came up on the video screen.
