What Was Your Thought Process When Lesnar Got the Three?

I am of course referring to right in that second as the referee's hand slapped the mat the third time when he conquered Spanky the streak.

Mine was somewhere along the lines of, "Of course after that build is when they do the... Hold on, wait... So are they doing the fake out ending or... Shit, that was clean. What. WHAT. F***ING WHAT?!" Somewhere like that. It took awhile to actually dawn on me the full magnitude of it.

I at first thought the ref f***ed up the count. Was really shocking to see.

Me and a bar full of my mark friends were watching it. The match was so boring, and we were drunk so we were hardly paying attention and cracking wise when the three hit. I was even looking at the screen when it happened.

I looked down at my phone to text someone during the cover. I was fully expecting Taker to kick out like he always does in that situation. When I heard the closing bell I yelled out "......Wait, WHAT?" And then looking shocked when I saw Heyman screaming "YOU DID IT!" at the top of his lungs.

My reaction at the time was a very Liz Lemon-esque "What the WHAT?!". I think that was my post on the board, too.

I could not believe it. I had no words. My friends went all "oh might be a fake out" but I pointed out it was a clean finish.

My friend and I thought the ref f***ed up. We couldn't believe it. After it was announced that's all we could talk about. Bryan winning was great but you knew it would happen, Taker losing was unbelievable. This man has been winning Wrestlemanias since the Golden Age. You can't replicate that.

Sadly, I was unable to get that day off of work, so I was stuck reading the results at the employee dining room in front of a bunch of people.

I'm pretty sure I managed a double take when I read that Brock Lesnar pinned the Undertaker though.

Yeah, I really thought it was a Rock/Angle at No Way Out 2001 situation where the ref got confused on the finish and counted 3. It didn't really hit me until "21-1" showed on the screens in the stadium.

Even though it was clear that Brock had won clean, my immediate reaction was that the decision was going to be overturned and the match restarted. Surely Taker must have got his shoulder up or had his foot on the rope...no way did the ref just count three.

Then the realisation kicked in about 10 seconds after the three count. "Wow, it really happened", I wasn't ecstatic or annoyed, just stunned.

My cousin immediately said, "It's over. He won." I was pissed. I immediately didn't give a f*** about the rest of the show.

I still think it was a stupid decision.

Vince had been criticized before then for being safe with his decisions and going with what works in Cena and Orton etc. However, this is one of those decisions that showed that he still has those "grapefruits" that he likes to brag about.


Sometimes you wonder if he's lost those in his old age but, there you go.

I do wonder what it was like for people who just checked WWE.com the next day and were greeted with the big, blunt, "THE STREAK IS DEAD." banner they had up.
