Not really storylines but... Jerry Lawler getting new music for like a week leading up to his Wrestlemania match against Cole. Orton and This Fire burns and Finlay's Celtic Rock theme... are other music changes that were dropped after a week.. I remember the theme Jerry Lawler had was actually used in that year's video game despite him only using it once.......

Trevor Murdoch randomly singing "I have friends in low places" (I think), and then released the week after That's not how it happened. After a tag match they lost while on a losing streak, Murdoch takes the mic and with no preface sings "I have friends in low places." He actually did a great job, played it with a touch of subtlety that you don't see much in WWE, especially during this obnoxious period as the ruthless aggression era was transitioning into the PG era which made everything super telegraphed and over-the-top. It connected with a lot of people and the crowd took to the group because they liked Murdoch's voice and, frankly, because of how refreshing it was. So the team began having a hot streak for a few weeks, winning matches, all either beginning or ending with Murdoch singing. At one point, after a match, Cade cuts a heartfelt promo saying he thinks Murdoch's singing is what helped turn the team around and then asks him to sing. As Murdoch's singing, Cade attacks him. The next week they have a one-on-one match on Raw that Cade wins. Murdoch's kept off TV for a few weeks, Michael Hayes (who was Smackdown's head writer at the time) was really pushing for Murdoch to come to Smackdown. Hayes gets suspended for the Mark Henry comments, and since this is the transitioning into PG era as well as there still being a lot of media scrutiny fear from WWE due to the Benoit tragedy happening just under a year prior, there's a lot of thought that Hayes might not ever return tot he company. After three weeks off TV, Murdoch is drafted to a Hayes-less Smackdown. With seemingly nobody on the brand wanting to go to bat for him, that same week Murdoch asked for his release and (IIRC, pleae correct me if I'm wrong) was given it on terms so good, they let him wrestle in Japan less than 30 days later. If you play Smackdown vs Raw 2009, Murdoch's character in the game, the design/Titantron/music etc., was (again IIRC) all based on what Hayes envisioned for the character and a glimpse into what might have been. In retrospect, I'm surprised Murdoch never resurfaced in the company. He knew how to connect with a crowd and seemed to show quite a bit of range as a performer. Last I heard, I believe he has some role in Global Force Wrestling. Man, I honestly wish all of that would've panned out like it was originally supposed to. I f***ing LOVE Trevor Murdoch. Like a lot. Dude is just awesome in an old-school way.

Actually, Edge didn't turn heel until six months after returning. Yes, around Cyber Sunday (Taboo Tuesday?). I guess "not long after" is up to debate. I guess to be fair he did turn heel not long after returning... from a different injury he got around August that put him out for about a month.

Rosa Mendes having a thing for Alberto Del Rio. They must have tried that same angle like on 3 separate occasions, but it never went anywhere. Alberto said that he put his foot down because they told him that if they put him with Rosa they were splitting him from Ricardo, and ADR preferred staying with Ricardo

I think the streaking thing was post-corporate-ministry Mideon when they weren't sure what to do with the leftover guys after it disbanded. Huh. I always thought it was pre-Ministry He couldn'ta been Naked Mideon before he became Mideon, now could he?

Vickie coming back with her new boyfriend Erin Escobar, qualifying for the Bragging Rights team, then losing his spot and going away.

Vickie coming back with her new boyfriend Erin Escobar, qualifying for the Bragging Rights team, then losing his spot and going away. That whole scenario was so bizarre, because everyone on the original Smackdown team won qualifying matches, and the week before the show, they realized they put the wrong guy over in EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THOSE MATCHES.

Such a weird couple of weeks.

Such a weird couple of weeks. Shad apparently caught "flu like symptoms" after a tour of Mexico, but some where questioning the severity of the illness, considering he was supposed to do the job in that 5 on 5 tag match that would lose him the Bragging Rights spot.

The one I remember the most was The Black Ninja
Building up for WEEKS who this chick in a Ninja mask and body suit was, as she would help Raven retain the Hardcore title and feud with Crash and Molly Holly, and even doing some near reveals, getting the complete mask off even but hiding her face before anyone could see. They were REALLY teasing this reveal. And then she is finally unmasked and revealed to be Tori as she and Raven flee up the ramp.
And it was never mentioned again after that. Weeks of build with finally a revelation, no explanation as to why, no follow up match or continuation of the feud, just "Here's who she is" and then it was just dropped with no explanation. There were accusations Tori made that Raven actually abused her which could have led to the dropped angle, but they were never proven true.
Another dropped Ninja incident involved a Ninja stalking the Kaientai on Sunday Night Heat, who was unmasked and revealed to be The Germ, who told them there was a Ninja stalking them in the first place, and they subsequently took out on the Heat Stage.
Also, The Germ as a whole. This fat non-wrestler white dude K-Kwik took under his wing for like two weeks to try and make him cool and give the name "The Germ", and then the Ninja thing happened and I'm pretty sure that was the end of him.

And finally, maybe my personal Favorite Frick late 2005-early 2006 Smackdown. Does anyone know what the true point of this was?

And finally, maybe my personal Favorite Frick late 2005-early 2006 Smackdown. Does anyone know what the true point of this was? I heard a rumor (probably just a joke) that Johnny Ace was told to hire some new cruiserweights, and instead, he 'accidentally' hired a bunch of little people.

How about that time Kanyon came out of a Box dressed up like a woman to serenade Undertaker to Boy George?

Come to think of it, because Orton beat Benoit to win Booker the best of 7 series, Booker still owes Randy. I do remember in a Raw Live thread in (I want to say) 2013 where Randy met up with Booker backstage and asked Booker to book a match for him that night. I remember myself and a couple of other members marking out for it (paraphrasing), "oh my god he is cashing in on the favor!", "favor successfully cashed in!" etc etc, even though there was no reference to the favor/Best of 7 between the two. I think we counted it as an unofficial one I just wish I knew which Raw it was so I could find the thread...

How about that time Kanyon came out of a Box dressed up like a woman to serenade Undertaker to Boy George? I'd say it had a purpose as he was just used by Heyman/Big Show to mess with Undertaker's head before their match at No Way Out 2003. They did that for a few weeks with one being Brother Love and Brian Kendrick and the other a puppy before Big Show attacked him on the go home edition of Smackdown before that PPV.

If thats what it was, I see they didn't mention the best of 7. Booker: "Why should I do that for you?" Orton: "Remember Book? I helped you win the best of 7 series? With Beno-" Booker: "SHUT YO MOUTH FINE ILL DO IT"

Remember Brutus Beefcake's masked persona from 1991? After his parasailing accident took Beefcake off tv for some time, this masked man would run in and attack heels after their matches. He would knock out foes with a headbutt (the metal in his head appearently adding extra force) before running off. Then suddenly the character was dropped. He never wrestled a match, they never explained who he was. The character was never even given a name (although some fans called him Fur Face, despite the fact that the man wore no fur.) that's not Fur Face. this was Fur Face.
