Some very strange polls this weekend... And Batista is 46. Not exactly the prime age for starting a movie career. He should have some good supporting roles as he's the rare big guy who actually shows some personality, but there's no way he's going to be a star of Rock's magnitude. For the record, Alan Rickman was around that age when he starred in Die Hard. It's not too late for Batista.

He'd been a top class actor for a decade before Die Hard. Not quite the same...

It's Rock.
Rock probably won't ever sign on to be part of a critical darling, but at the same time, he doesn't need to.

If you're going by quality, the Princess Bride was better than any movie any of those others have done, with They Live close behind. If were going by quality, Luca Brasi from The Godfather was AWA Tag Team Champion. I knew about him, but I didn't include him as he isn't as well known as the rest. And yes this thread was created to be about quality rather than quantity. John Cazale was in just 5 movies, but all were nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. Michael Bay has made more money, but the guy has made awful movie after after movie. So that's why I made this thread. Andre, Piper, Ventura and have made at least 1 classic movie, which is something that The Rock can't say in over a dozen films. Batista's movie, while too early to be called a classic has been a complete critical smash, and being in a James Bond film is a way bigger deal than being in three Fast & The Furious movies.

George the Animal Steele as Tor Johnson from Ed Wood if we're just randomly naming wrestlers who appeared in movies ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)

I could see Bautista following in his foot steps.

There's literally no defensible way to try to argue anyone but The Rock. He has featured, starring roles in blockbuster after blockbuster, he was the top-grossing actor in 2013, and his film career is showing absolutely no signs of slowing down. This. The Rock "franchise viagra" skit on SNL was no joke. He has gotten the bulk of the credit for reinvigorating the Fast & Furious series, and saving the GI Joe and Journey franchises. He was the biggest money maker in Hollywood in 2013. Batista has had two plum supporting roles, but ultimately you're comparing Hulk Hogan in the 80's to XPac in the 90's. When a Hollywood studio casts Batista as the lead in a multi-million dollar blockbuster, then he at least gets to sit down at the table in the discussion, but he's further down the table than Prince Akeem was in Coming to America. To break it down even simpler, if Hollywood was going to make a big budget movie on the life and times of Dave Batista, and the final choices to play Dave Batista were Dave Batista and The Rock... The Rock would be getting that role.

And yes this thread was created to be about quality rather than quantity. Well, in that case: ![](http://thumbs1.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mjZw2P3gbcdo3nvWo_EyaTA.jpg) Here is " Perpetual Motion Man" Buck Kartalian. Professional wrestler who later on became an actor and appeared in Cool Hand Luke, Planet Of The Apes, The Outlaw Josey Wales, the original broadway production of Mr Roberts, The Rock and Gymkata. As well as Friends, How I Met Your Mother, The 60's Batman Show and The Munsters. Dude's gotta win, right?

going back to what I said earlier, The Rock has proved longevity but I've abstained from voting because any film with The Rock probably likely wouldn't crack my personal top 30 films featuring wrestlers unless the movie The Rock counts (which I doubt it does).

Rock by a large margin. The Bond movie isn't even out yet, and just being in it isn't exactly a brand maker.

The Rock is miles ahead of Batista. Rock is one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood right now. Batista did great in Guardians, but in the build up to Guardians not a lot of people were convinced he would be as good as he was, let alone the movie would be as good as it was. There's also a lot of stock being put in a role that hasn't even been seen yet with Batista being cast in the new Bond flick. Give it five years or so and we'll have this conversation again. Though if we were comparing Guardians to say, Mummy 2 and where both guys would've been at that point in their career, Batista would take it. At this point, Rock has the better career, but Batista isn't too far behind.

I remember Batista was in that random forgettable movie a few years back...I actually don't even remember what it was called, I just used to see it on the shelf at the movie rental place. Also, Batista had a role in Scorpion King 3 a franchise that was launched because of a non-speaking role the Rock had in the Mummy Returns. Regardless of the quality of the franchise, launching one with an unspoken role is pretty damn impressive.
Also, Get Smart was fantastic and the Rock was a great part of that. Yes I know it had mixed reviews but I rather enjoyed it. That said, Batista might eventually overtake the Rock but he has been in a lot of movies over the years. Franchise Viagra is just a more recent thing. He headlined plenty of standalone movies over the course of more than a decade. Not a lot of actors can boast working regularly and starring regularly for well over a decade.
