Coming December 2016
Plot Synopsis: "A rogue band of resistance fighters unite to steal the Death Star plans and bring new hope to the galaxy."
-Takes place between Ep III & IV
-Nearly no jedi will be in the film, "comes down to a group of heroes without magic powers" - Gareth Edwards
-Felicity Jones plays a rebel soldier
-Filming starts this summer
-DP is Greig Fraser (Foxcatcher, Zero Dark Thirty)
-Neil Corbould is doing SFX (Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, Saving Private Ryan)

Does this confirm that Ahsoka, Kanan, and Ezra all bite the dust? Only if it also confirms Obi Wan was dead before A New Hope, since he presumably also won't be in it.  |

"Gareth Edwards‘ Star Wars: Rogue One is still over a year away, but thanks to D23 we have a tantalizing taste of the upcoming film today. The very first official photo has just been revealed, featuring Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, and Donnie Yen (the latter two of whom were recently rumored for the cast).
And that’s not all. Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk were just announced for the cast, while Forest Whitaker and Ben Mendelsohn were confirmed.

I want some damn Bothans. Or at least some other original trilogy aliens as part of the cast.
One thing I always liked about the EU (granted, probably because it's significantly easier to do in literature and comics) was including nonhumans in the casts. I just hope that Jar-Jar hasn't ruined it for main-cast aliens forever.

I know that the period between III and IV is a popular setting since so much time passed between those two movies, but I don't know that this is a story that needed to be told. I'm sure it'll be a great movie and I'll probably still see it because Star Wars, but eh.

They snuck an Imperial shuttle into the background in one of Firefly's episodes. Lucasfilm have gone one better and snuck Wash into a Star Wars film. |

Great cast. I look forward to this, the more Star Wars the better... as long as it's not Attack of the Clones or Phantom Menace But with Disney at the helm I doubt it. They've generally got a good track record for good movies and shows. |

I'm really sorta worried about this. Yearly Star Wars sounds like it'll get old.
I don't wanna get to the point where a Star Wars movie is out and I say 'Eh. I don't really need to see this one. I'll wait for the next one in a few months.'

Mads Mikkleson must be playing the villain of the film. I can see him as an Imperial Officer type. Wonder if they will get James Earl Jones in to do some V.O work  |

I hope they work a complete slob-piece-of-shit-yet-ace-pilot Porkins into it somehow. Like the entire movie he's eating sandwiches, drinking blue milk and bragging about how great of a pilot he is in between belches. They tease that the reason his ship ends up malfunctioning in A New Hope is because he finally exceeds the maximum pilot weight in his XWing and an overloaded seat sensor burns out his shielding systems.
