Without knowing how much Vader will actually be in the film, it'll be interesting if they have James Earl Jones give a more snappy, emotional performance like how Vader was in Episode IV versus ESB and ROJ. Think of how he says "Commander, tear this ship apart" versus his dialogue in the later movies.

Think of how he says "Commander, tear this ship apart" versus his dialogue in the later movies. In my head canon Vader is closer to the Anakin we see on ROTS than he is in ESB and ROTJ because in ANH he's still driven by the pain, rage, and hatred for Obi Wan and the loss of his wife and unborn child. With Obi Wan dead a big part of Vader's rage and hate died with him, and the discovery that his son is alive the conflict between the good man Anakin was and the Emperor's puppet he's become has set in, leading to a much more reserved, calculated outer appearance by the time ESB begins. By rights we should have a more vicious, emotional Vader in Rogue One, if for no better reason than to wipe away the stain left by the "Nooooo!" scene.

Think of how he says "Commander, tear this ship apart" versus his dialogue in the later movies. In Rebels, he shows glimpses of both ANH and ESB versions in his delivery of lines. It might be that same mixture or it'll be more vicious because of what's at stake. I hope it's the later because even though Vader is threatening in ESB and ROTJ, he sounds terrifying at times in ANH.

From what I heard of him in his 1st Rebels cameo, he actually......did sound a little different. I'd thought it was an off delivery at the time, but I hadn't even considered he was maybe trying to match his voice to ANH.

Anyone else surprise that we haven't see much news about the movie yet? Kind of makes me think that Felicity Jones is indeed playing Rey's mother, and Disney is making sure to keep a tight lid on it and the movie.

Guessing the first trailer will be:
- shown before Captain America: Cival War
-during an episode of Agents of Shield (or another ABC show)
- posted online the same day of the home release of The Force Awakens.

A new trailer tomorrow is a pleasant surprise, I thought they would have waited for Civil War to come out before releasing one.
Makes sense with Force Awakens being released on DVD this week though with timing and all that.

The teaser with the black Stormtroopers (black ops? Dark Troopers?) has me really curious. Can't wait to see the full thing tomorrow.

Looks great, I was expecting it to look and feel more like a straight to video sequel type thing for some reason, but it certainly looks and feels like new Star Wars to me.
I'm also glad I'll now have a buffer between Episode 3 and 4 during marathon viewings to make the transition less jarring.

I'm not going to use this as a "buffer", as it completely lacks the SW magic. Just another grim'n'gritty fan film.

What I Like:
- It has a darker, grittier feel than any other movie in the "Star Wars" franchise in the sense that it appears to be relying upon practical effects rather than CGI, which will be a nice way of solving why the people on screen in the prequels seemed to have better technology at their disposal than those in the original trilogy.
- Maybe it's just me, but that waling siren noise and what I was seeing on screen sort of reminded me of the "Alien" teaser from the 1970s. It looks like they are truly emphasizing the "wars" part of the "Star Wars" title.
What I Dislike:
- "Directed by Gareth Edwards".
- The main plot of "the rebels need to eliminate this giant planet-destroying space orb!" is kind of the same as Episodes IV, VI, and VII. Also, considering their main goal is to destroy the Death Star before it's operational, and we know how Episode IV starts, uh, spoiler alert about how this movie ends.

I thought it looked great. I also liked the music so much darker which makes me think that this will have more of a darker edge to it.

Whoever picked out the locations for that, that looks awesome. They've completely nailed the aesthetic and I'm kind of curious where the subway platform-looking thing is going to come in.
Also, just stuff like the superlaser dish being placed onto the Death Star makes things all come together so pleasingly.

Yeah, a fan film with millions of dollars behind it that is made by Disney and is official canon.

Also, just stuff like the superlaser dish being placed onto the Death Star makes things all come together so pleasingly. The laser dish was my jaw drop moment. Everything else looked wonderful. As for that "subway," I'd wager to say that's *in* the Death Star. - It has a darker, grittier feel than any other movie in the "Star Wars" franchise in the sense that it appears to be relying upon practical effects rather than CGI, which will be a nice way of solving why the people on screen in the prequels seemed to have better technology at their disposal than those in the original trilogy. Well, even back when he was making them, Lucas always said that the Empire's galaxy was run down, compared to how it was during the Republic. The Republic era was an age of progess. So I never really had a problem with the prequels looking so bright and shiny - that's just how everything was. In an Imperial galaxy, they were building everything for themselves and probably even stifling progress so that only they benefited, reducing people to scavenging and scrounging for parts - and of course in both situations, there were always outer rim peoples doing that the whole time (Tatooine in both trilogies, and Jakku in Episode 7 even). Some of the tech was a bit out there, but again I used my own head canon to explain that away (like Kamino - no one knew it was there, technically, so the Emperor just kept them cut off......or worse. )
