So Thrawn and The Outrider have crossed back into official canon. Anybody or anything else? So I wonder if that can work both ways, and we can actually send people or things back out of canon? Like we get Thrawn and the Outrider, and send out midichlorians? I'd love to see a line in the newer movies: Rey's reading some old Jedi books, "Master, I've see a mention here of midi-chlorians?" Luke, "That's not how the Force works." *midichlorians are never mentioned again*

Luke, "That's not how the Force works." *midichlorians are never mentioned again* All they have to do is point out that Palpatine lived on a planet where his midichlorian count would have been measured. He wasn't taken to be a Jedi and turned out to be the most powerful Force-user in the galaxy.

I'm reading the book Rogue One:Catalyst. it's a book that gives us background on the Ersos, Krennic, and the history of the Death Star project. It's written by James Luceno(Of Tarkin and Darth Plagueis fame) and, so far, it's wonderful. I don't think it's required reading because I think most of what's in it will either be mentioned or alluded to in the movie but, it's still a lot of fun with some cool references and interactions between characters.
I won't give too much away but, Director Krennic might be my favorite character of the new canon. He's so arrogant, so impulsive, and so short-sighted that he doesn't even realize that everyone and their mother knows that his tunnel-vision ambitions are leading him to a spectacular and satisfying downfall. He personifies the term "Low Cunning."
I don't ask for much from movies but, Krennic needs to fall and fall hard by the end of Rogue One.

Its amazing how many people are upset it doesn't have Crawl I like that it doesn't. That is reserved for the series proper. These are standalone movies, Star Wars Stories.

Its amazing how many people are upset it doesn't have Crawl It bothered me a little that it doesn't have the crawl. Really all I care about is whether or not they have the main theme. It's not Star Wars if it doesn't have the John Williams intro score.

I can understand why people want the crawl on everything as it's a staple of Star Wars, but if they're trying to set a different tone, not using it is the perfect move.

If it's supposed to be different, then it shouldn't have all the staples of an "episode" movie.
It would be hilarious if the criticism coming out of this movie is that it "didn't feel much like a Star Wars movie" after all that was said about Episode 7 last year in some circles.

Listen all of ya'll it's sabotage!

I'm not pro or anti opening crawl in the traditional sense... but I do think 3 short paragraphs describing the setting of any movie in the first 20 seconds is a neat feature. I can think of a lot of non-star wars movies that would have benefited from just a couple lines of "ok this is the setting".
I'd love it if it had the "World War newsreal style" intro some of the Clone Wars stuff had. Make it from an Imperial Point of view. Some "sending the boys in White out to take care of the filthy malcontents" kinda thing.

I'm not a fan of the Clone Wars news reel openings. Too corny.

After the prequel trilogy Lucas' opinions on the quality of anything are somewhat irrelevant.

Rogue One was actually first thought of by someone who worked at Lucasfilm during production of Episode 3. I'm sure a lot of the people who were carried over after the Disney buyout pushed hard to have this project finished.
Got to say, love what I've seen so far. I like that there seems to be some serious distrust between the heros. At least for Jyn and Saw Gerrera. Anyone who watched Clone Wars knows that Saw can be a serious liability. He nearly f****** up the Onderon mission for the Jedi a few times with his bullheaded attitude.
