I wasn't hyped for this film at all until reactions/spoilers started coming out.

There aren't words for how much I despise shit like this. No one's opinion is the end all be all for everyone else. I always feel like these guys are one bit of push-back away from "WAKE UP SHEEPLE".

Indeed. People can resist by reading his review in an underground, maverick newspaper like the New York Times.

Also, if that writer thinks he's going to convince anyone to not see the movie with that kind of attitude, he's more out-of-touch than he sounds. If we've learned nothing else this year, we've learned that people don't like being talked down to by elitist media douchebags who sniff their own farts for a living on top of their soapboxes. Who the hell are you to judge anyone as such for what movies they watch? Who are you? Orwell? Seriously, f*** that dude's fake wokeness. If you want some better entertainment, go read the first paragraph of the New Yorker's review. It's 2008 SRS Jericho in print form with how pretentious and wordy it is. Some writers need to learn that just because you can replace a few two-syllable words with a four-syllable synonym, does not mean you're that much smarter than everyone else.

I've seen it and I'm disappointed. Has some awesome moments, but as a whole Rogue One is a mediocre slog with weak main characters, too much expository dialogue and almost no sense of fun and wonder. Your mileage may vary.

Just saw it. I thought it was pretty damn great overall. The final act is just...WHOA!
Also, K-2SO is the best droid yet...or, as my friend put it, "BB-8 can suck a dick!"

Just saw Rogue One. Pretty good, better than The Force Awakens, it told an original story that was tightly interwoven with the prominent beats of the mythology. This is how you repurpose New Hope for the next generation and get away with it Abrams. (I'm not good on the names at the moment, might have to see it a second time, so bear with me) About the only sour part for me was the middle act, which dragged a bit, {Spoiler}I do think there would have been more weight if the girl had caught the commander in the act of trying to kill her father just as he was reconsidering, instead of going directly for her father. Still, I liked the pay-off with the 'Stardust' nickname Oh, and {Spoiler}Expect a lot of CGI Peter Cushing. More than what I thought I'd be getting...they use the same methods on Carrie Fisher at the end And yes, Vader's scenes are WELL worth the price of admission. You will not believe how {Spoiler} close he is to succeeding. It's sheer luck that gives us hope in the end

no sense of fun and wonder. That entire third act does everything to reignite the spark and allure of SW that The Sue Awakens failed miserably at and you're not satisfied? Whatever mate, I don't know what youre looking for, but not every SW movie needs a bloated fatass monster, endless "knock it off fuzzball" quips and whining from a choice of Luke, Anakin, Kylo or 3PO. It's a sodding war story, some of them should reflect that

Some spoilers out there saying a Certain Character is in the movie. We have to see how true it is I read on TheForce.net that he was in one quick scene, but it was cut from the final theatrical release.

I liked Force Awakens a lot - never really been a Star Wars guy but I decided last minute to go see it at a pre-screening just to be part of the hype and wound up enjoying myself - but no real desire to see this. Sounds like it's pretty much exactly what logic would say it is based on the premise really, which I'm sure will work for some people and that's fine but I have no desire to watch it personally.

Outside of the Clone Wars. All the Star Wars films released in my lifetime had overwhelming Day One support with criticisms becoming accepted popular belief a few months later.
Like I had so many friends tell me Revenge of the Sith or Force Awakens being the best star wars films outside of Empire when it was first released and later tell me they only rank above Phantom Menace and Clone Wars.

Also, part of me finds the stir that this movie's tone has created online exciting. It makes me really want to see it and judge for myself.

I'd drop everything and go see the movie tonight if he were still in, just for the collective groan that'd come from a bunch of hyped Star Wars fans seeing the thing first chance seeing him on the screen.
