I frankly don't give a shit who does what to get the damn plans. I just want Bothans to die. Many of them. What did the Bothans ever do to you?! Every story about Bigfoot? It was Bothans Every story about Aliens? it was Bothans Every story about Bigfoot on Mars? Obviously that's about Bigfoot on Mars, otherwise they would have called it Bothans on Mars.

Exactly how many Bothans will die in the film? that's what i would like to know. No offense, man, but all we rebels ever DO is die. Well except for the A-Team over there.

There are like, a dozen different stories about how the Death Star plans got stolen in the Legends timeline; most of them contradictory. If anything I'm grateful Rogue One will exist if only to give us a definitive canon story about it. I frankly don't give a shit who does what to get the damn plans. I just want Bothans to die. Many of them. This racist hate should not be tolerated on this board. Somebody on here's Mamma could be a Bothan.

Somebody on here's Mamma could be a Bothan. Now I'm imagining protesters shouting, "Bothan lives matter! Bothan lives matter! Bothan lives matter!" at Mon Mothma, to which she replies, "All lives matter!"

4. Still some speculation that Jyn is Rey's mother. I see the resemblance and I guess that would be a big development but, I doubt they're putting that kind of info in an anthology movie. Nor should they. It's supposed to be its own story and it would be strange for people who saw Episode 7 and didn't see Rogue One for them to just go on about it in Episode 8 like everyone should know about it already. I really, really, really hope that speculation is just that: speculation. Because one of my biggest pet peeves in the aftermath of "The Force Awakens" were the endless theories about which new characters are related to old characters. We already had {Spoiler}Kylo Ren being Han and Leia's son , but now everyone is spreading wild rumors about Rey being Luke's daughter or Finn being related to Lando. We don't need everyone in the "Star Wars" universe to be related to one another. It's OK for characters to not be linked and intertwined.

I still like the fan theory of Lando being a later batch clone generated near the end of the Clone Wars (when they started mixing in non-Fett DNA since they started running out of it). Lando being partially related to Boba would have been amusing to me.

For context, almost all of Poe Dameron's scenes came from re-shoots. Re-shoots are pracitcally the reason he was kept alive. He was a dead man in the first cuts if I'm not mistaken.

Unless there's like, major creative or financial issues behind a movie like this getting re-shoots, I don't think it's a huge deal. As long as the final product is good, I'm fine with whatever they have to do to get there.

Figured as much. That first trailer felt way too "off brand" for Disney/SW, so much so that I was actually interested in it. So it makes sense they want to reshoot to make the tone more cohesive with the rest of the franchise. Would've loved to see the director's original cut through before it got Disnified.

I don't read too much into the reshoots, although 40% would admittedly be higher that I thought.
Rogue One is in a situation where it's the most prequel prequel they've ever prequelled. It's being placed to almost directly lead into the start of A New Hope, and it's something they want people to be able to see then go right into New Hope if they wish (especially for new viewers I'd guess) to see how that goes.
So if you have a real hard tonal shift, some will find that unsatisfying.
Given that situation, no surprise they're really trying to nail it down and nail it down right.

This kinda bothers me cuz I was hoping these side story movies would have a little more to take more risks since they're not tied to the main story.

The sheer amount it's being reshot is really concerning.

So according to what AICN has been hearing, Christopher McQuarrie had a draft of the movie that wasn't completed when Gareth Edwards was shooting it. And apparently his draft was VERY well liked by Disney execs (and I reckon LucasFilm execs too), so the reshoots are mostly to accommodate what he'd added onto the story that wasn't there in the original shoots. (Why they started shooting the movie when his draft wasn't done........well, a Star Wars movie every year, I guess that's why...)
Edwards is still involved with the reshoots, so he's not been booted or anything, McQuarrie apparently is heavily involved too (working side by side with Edwards), and even JJ Abrams is supposedly supervising some of the reshoots too.
A colossal mess, but it seems to have a bit more merit than the usual "movie sucked, reshoot stuff so it's better" reshoots that tend to exist...

But for something the level of Star Wars (which not only has lofty box office expectations, but also a giant fanbase Disney's catered pretty well to so far), it seems odd......and hell, to be shooting while a guy the level of McQuarrie is still in the middle of a draft? They really want to keep that annual schedule.
