That also isn't all that uncommon either. True. But for something the level of Star Wars (which not only has lofty box office expectations, but also a giant fanbase Disney's catered pretty well to so far), it seems odd......and hell, to be shooting while a guy the level of McQuarrie is still in the middle of a draft? They really want to keep that annual schedule. Who wouldn't want to keep an annual billion dollar movie schedule?

Figured as much. That first trailer felt way too "off brand" for Disney/SW, so much so that I was actually interested in it. So it makes sense they want to reshoot to make the tone more cohesive with the rest of the franchise. Would've loved to see the director's original cut through before it got Disnified. If you watch the teaser, you'll notice a robot character sprinting through what appears to be some kind of base alongside our heroes. If I'm a betting man, and if the rumors are true that the executives want to lighten the film's mood, I'd imagine that in reshoots the robot will become less of a background/tertiary character and get more focus and be more of an "R2D2/C3PO/BB-8/Jar Jar Binks" character, the fun-loving character that can easily be used to sell toys to kids. Remember, this movie is set to be released about a week before Christmas, and I'm sure the higher-ups want to sell the crap out of this movie beyond just tickets. As I've said in recent days, all you needed to know about how Disney felt about this movie could be seen in the trailer. "The Force Awakens" had its teaser drop more than a year before the film was released. Then an extended trailer was released six months out, with the full final trailer about three months out. Meanwhile, "Rogue One" had no anticipation, no hype, no trailer to be seen or heard from until April, when the movie was due to be released about eight months later, and almost immediately after that, it was forgotten. It all just felt like the executives were ashamed of the movie, almost trying to hide it, instead of capitalizing on the almost universal goodwill they received from "The Force Awakens" by saying, "Hey! You thought that most recent installment was great? Well another one's coming in less than a year!"

Did you just compare BB8 to Jar Jar Binks, BRV?
I have no issue with your main point, but... I... HEH?!?

Well they are the same type of character. One succeeded, one didn't.

The fact that they're bringing Clone Wars characters into live-action movies now is fantastic. Opens up a lot of possibilities for the future.
Never thought I'd ever see a time where Vader being announced for a new movie was only the second most exciting news. Yet, that's where we stand.

It also means we might potentially see a live action Onderon. It's awesome seeing Onderonian characters showing up in the movies, but a live action Onderon, even if it's for a few seconds of a scenery shot, would make me so happy.

It's also interesting that in the Clone Wars cartoon, the Onderonian rebellion first started against the seperatists and the rebels were trained by Darth Vader himself in his old identity. Seeing Onderon as a major part of the rebel alliance would be very satisfying because of the "blowback factor."

If they would put a one-off character like Saw into Rogue One, Cad Bane's gotta be a lock for the Young Han Solo movie.

Teaser trailer shown at Celebration will not be released online On the plus side, we got lots of behind-the-scenes footage released. I'm sure some keen editors can make a trailer out of some of it

Was at the 'Galaxy Stage' stream at Celebration. We got the above reel three times in the hour while watching the show, so can only presume the main Celebration Stage got a few bits we didn't get and that was the replacement. But we did get to see the trailer, albeit from an angle of a camera watching the main stage (presumably to avoid piracy). So hyped for this one. The cast is amazing and the little glimpses the panel gave to their characters sounds fantastic.

Most interesting thing I heard today was one of the new planets features in Rogue One: Jedha. A planet under Imperial rule called Jedha, considered to be the Mecca of the Star Wars universe. Jedi and Force-believers try to make the pilgrimage over to Jedha at least once in their lives and the Empire conquered it to intimidate Force-believers.
Right off the bat that's more interesting than anything I saw in Force Awakens.

I wonder if Jedha is supposed to be the equivalent of Tython (or even IS Tython, but with a new name like Moraband is for Korriban, the Sith homeworld) in the new canon? Though Tython wasn't a pilgrimage planet, so probably not.
They also showed an extended trailer for Rogue One last night on ABC during a behind the scenes special on The Force Awakens, which was a pretty interesting show by itself. It's probably not the same one shown at Celebration, but I'm still pretty hyped for the movie.
