If it does bad Marvel and the fans will just blame Edgar Wright for f***ing the movie up. Which will be well deserved on his part cause he did. No way this movie straight up flops. I don't think anyone will be saying it's their favorite but hey it's following Guardians and Winter Soldier. Tough act to follow hence why I feel Ultron felt kind of flat. But hell nobody expected those other two to blast like that did they

As long as the budgeted the movie to realistic expectations it should do fine.

It'll make back its budget no doubt. Ant Man ain't exactly an obscure character (though that's more for Hank Pym's slapping moment than anything else). He's around the B Class rank when it comes to Marvel Heroes, and remember Iron Man was as well before his movie came out. We may have a surprise on our hands.

No, I think it'll do just fine. And remember, I was the one who predicted that Guardians of the Galaxy would be one of the biggest hits of all time.
My prediction for first big Marvel Studios flop - The Inhumans. Yeah, they work as a sub-plot on Agents of SHIELD, but I just can't see them carrying a movie. I've always found them as such a boring concept made up of some really uninteresting characters.

Or Dr. Strange, Captain Marvel, or Inhumans. The success of Guardians is making Marvel Studios feel invincible that they are greenlitting all their franchises. There's no way Doctor Strange will flop. The Benedict Cumberbatch fangirls will simply refuse to let that happen. But he married an evil witch, so I think they hate him now

I really believe that at this point, people are drawn to Marvel for quality more than for characters.

If it does bad Marvel and the fans will just blame Edgar Wright for f***ing the movie up. I'm a fan of Edgar Wright, but he really blew it with Ant-Man.

The people who watched Avengers 2 with me were very well into the trailer for this, and the Thomas gag got a lot of laughs. It'll do fine.

Personally, going from nothing more than the gut, I'd say it has potential to be the first truly underperforming Marvel film since Iron Man debuted and set up the rocket ship momentum that Marvel still has today.
Ant-Man still sounds like a joke character. The trailers treat the name as a joke. He's riding ants like a HONEY I SHRUNK THE KIDS sibling.
I just can't feel it.

Like the amazing numbers done by The Fifth Estate, To be fair, that film could have had the Avengers cast and still tanked, such was the limited audience. Cumberbatch + Marvel is a good bet to milk his fanbase though.

To be fair, the Guardians of the Galaxy sounded like a joke name, and the main character's cool hero name in that film ("Star-Lord") was the subject of a running gag of people ridiculing said character.

Well, I'll be seeing it at least.
Also, when I saw Age Of Ultron last week, the preview seemed to get the best crowd response of any of the trailers shown, so I'm sure a lot of people that were in the theater with me at the time will see it too.

Honestly, after Iron-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy, it shouldn't really be a surprise if Ant-Man does better than expected. That's kinda been Marvel Studios' M.O. since the beginning.

I don't think it'll be a flop, but I'm not expecting it to set the world on fire either.
Either way I'm sure as hell not seeing it.

I've always found them as such a boring concept made up of some really uninteresting characters. I thought Medusa was awesome when I first saw her as a villain in Fantastic Four. When they changed course and made her a hero with the Inhumans, I was thrilled. I'd agree the rest of the team leaves a lot to be desired, but Medusa is great. That said, I think Inhumans will do fine. I predict Captain Marvel to be the first real flop.

Not surprised Winter Soldier did well, since I believe the Avengers tie in helped the Captain America franchise. Haven't seen Age of Ultron yet, but looking over the cast I don't see Ant Man, even though he was in the comic book story line. Probably would have been a good idea to get him involved to help out the movie considering a lot of people will be watching the Avengers.
