This is a celebrity death I am genuinely sad about.
The man had a fascinating life and was a genuine badass. The guy was a spy, special forces soldier a Nazi Hunter and then went on to portray some of cinemas most iconic characters. Plus that voice.

God, that voice. Argue its second only to Vincent Price to putting your hair on end. As for how I'll remember him, yes, Sauruman, Dracula, Dooku, many others. But the one burned in my brain is when he was slumming it. The great Sir Lee having to put on a pair of Ray-Bans during Howling II. Just... wow. And do some research into his service during WWII. That's honestly scarier than any horror role he played. Rest well, Sir Lee. We will miss you and we will never forget. Fun story: while filming Sauruman's death scene, Peter Jackson kept trying to instruct Lee about what to do. Lee told him "Do you know what it sounds like when you sneak up behind someone and stab them? Well I do."

Honestly, there any BAD Christopher Lee stories? Not trying to bury Ceasar here, but nobody even prior to today, has said anything but respect and affection. Maybe we were all a bit scared of him, I dunno!

A hell of a career and life. Kept working across almost seventy years on tv and film.
It was really good to see the late career comeback he had thanks to Burton, Lucas, Jackson and others. And that sonorous voice was truly beautiful.
RIP Sir Chris.

Not unexpected, given his age/health; but still a loss.
Legendary life by the man.

I knew that he wasn't doing all that well lately. He's a legend, as others have mentioned. He was great as Count Dooku and Saruman to be certain. The role I remember him most fondly by is Lord Summerisle in the Wicker Man. That was a great film and he was a big part in it being that good.
His service in WWII is even more legendary than all of that combined.
R.I.P.

My hands clasped over my mouth and I yelled "OH NO!" the moment I logged online and saw the headline. I don't care if he was 93, this one genuinely hurts as if it was a young promising career cut short. A story I heard a while ago (which I see was told in a manner a few posts above, but I'll still keep it in as I heard it kinda differently): on the set of RETURN OF THE KING, Peter Jackson, while filming his death scene, tried to suggest how to emote being stabbed in the back. Lee stopped him and said "Believe me, Peter, I know from first hand experience what a man sounds like when he's stabbed in the back." ![O_o](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/browraise.png) What an amazing actor and an amazing person. We will never be lucky enough to have another one like him. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png) Oh, and to prove he was a true master of horror - he died on Sunday and we only all just found out today. 4 days later. That will horrify me for the rest of the day, so much so that I almost expect to learn he planned the official statement to be delayed just for the effect.

Great song and an underappreciated film. R.I.P to a man who was one of my favourites, hard to define by just one role.
