It's only sore because of the fan interference HR being the difference. I've said it a million times. If the Royals had won 3 - 1 which they were potentially doing, I would have accepted it. It's that they won with a BS call being the difference that pisses me off. You know, the rules of the stadium states that it was a valid HR, right? The ball came down above the padding, the announcer was wrong when he said it had to go above the rail. Still fan interference to me. I think his glove was past the pad. But seriously, let's stop with this. This is a world series thread.

Yeah, that was no Jeffrey Maier incident. House rules are weird for specific stadiums (see: Tropicana Field), but there was no fan interference there. Would've been a great play if the Jays' outfielder made it, but where the ball landed is "goes in at his own risk" territory.

You can see the ball's deflection from the glove when it's above the foam. Feel free to disagree, but that's not the reason the Jay's lost, it's their inability to bat a player in that game.

That picture right there shows the glove over the pad. If it is over the pad, it is interference.
Now can we please bring this back to a World Series topic and stop this crap, Red Impact. I think everyone else here is tired of this crap derailing the World Series thread even more than I am.

As a Mets fan, I'd be upset if we lost, but I'd be happy for KC fans. Whoever wins absolutely deserves it.

Apparently, the Royals only told Volquez about his father dying after he had been pulled from the game. Now before anyone thinks anything, this kept-secret was requested by his wife.
Also, this is not something I am going to judge the team on because this is a situation where you just have to go with the immediate family's advice.

After last night: Me after reading the last page of this thread. Anyway the past is in the past and it would be best to talk about now if we can. I'm hoping KC gets DirecTV Cueto and not Cable Cueto. Sure to be another great match up.

Well, that's pretty much wrong. Yankees already have a 100+ million dollar outfielder in Ellsbury. With them not spending too much cash nowadays and them having somewhat of a plan to get a few of those young outfielders up to the Bronx soon, they won't be throwing out any cash toward Gordon or anyone else for that matter. Agree on outfielder. Yankees will pick up Zobrist, not Gordon. Backup for any OF busts and can play 47 other positions and hit 20 HR and knock in 90 with their souped up lineup. Colin Cowherd is horrible. I liked where FSN was heading until this pickup. Complete bush league TNA-esque move.

Colin Cowherd is horrible. I liked where FSN was heading until this pickup. Complete bush league TNA-esque move. Cowherd use to be really good until he got big with ESPN. After that he started saying the most controversial and craziest stuff just for the sake of views. He's just edgy for the sake of being edgy. When I ended up moving, the place I moved to doesn't get ESPN radio but we get FSN, so I was happy I did not have to hear Cowherd again. Then he signed with FSN and it was out of the frying pan and into the oven.

They needed to get someone to fill radio simulcast time after they let Da Sports Pope out of his contract with them.

KC's ability to make contact is an amazing thing. Got to give credit to Dayton Moore. I don't know if he knew what he was doing or stumbled onto it, but his ability to value defensive WAR and base running, combined with some of the young hitters starting to pan out and catering his offense to his home park has made his team incredibly good in a short amount of time. Boring as hell to watch, but damn good.
I said Royals in 5 before, but wouldn't surprise me if they swept. The Astros bullpen awakened a monster.

I will say that I was annoyed last night at the home plate umpire; fine, dude had to work 14 innings, but his zone was all over the place all damn night. I don't think he was trying to help one team or another, as the Royals missed out on some calls low in the zone, but it was driving me crazy how it felt like the Royals would get calls on the corners while the Mets wouldn't. Talked to some folks watching with a statcast to see if the strikezone was consistent, and results were pretty mixed. That's been the recurring theme all season and likely will be as long as baseball sticks with human umps who call balls and strikes based on their eyes rather than the actual strike zone. It's gotten to the point where I think being a patient team in the playoffs is actually a bad thing. The Royals being a team that swings all the time can get the benefit of BABIP inflated luck. A more patient team that works the count is at a huge risk of having an umpire call pitches completely against the strike zone (ala Ben Revere and Dioner Navarro in game 6 of the ALCS). Until baseball makes a change with the way balls and strikes are called, the game will suffer for it.

When was the last time a team won it all without a tried-and-true #1 pitcher?
These Royals are trying to prove that you don't need an ace on the mound to win it all.

It's funny, a lot of people seem to complain about their game style. They were second in the league in hits during the regular season, but 24th in HR. They get a lot of signles, doubles, and Triples, which isn't nearly as exciting but produces fantastic results for them.
