...as a face. As said from him on Wrestling Observer Live, the three big main events for WrestleMania 32 were supposed to be:
Seth Rollins vs Triple H Dean Ambrose vs Roman Reigns Brock Lesnar vs The Rock
And yes, the planned HHH/Rollins match means that Triple H was planned to win the 2016 Royal Rumble match. So make this WrestleMania #3 where the original plan is absolute garbage.

That would be the third Royal Rumble in a row where the winner got shit on, and I say that as a guy who likes Triple H.

Are we sure Seth didn't destroy his knee on purpose?

To be fair, from a storyline point of view; Seth vs Triple H in a passing of the torch match does make sense. Whether that match should be at 'Mania and with Triple H winning the Rumble is another question. The third question/fear is whether Trips will actually job to Rollins.
I also think they're blowing their load early on Ambrose vs Reigns. Give it a long build, have it at 'Mania 33.

I'm sorry, but I feel like Meltzer might have been fed a line of BS here.
I mean, we know HHH has a huge ego, but even he would have to see how god awful an idea that would be.

Please retire, hunter... Enough is enough. You are not a mega star and you shouldn't be going over top young talent with the sole purpose of boosting your ego.

Nice one, Dave. People are paranoid enough about Cena/Big Show/Kane/Del Rio/Sheamus winning the belt without you throwing Triple H out there as a possibility. That said... Holy damn that wouldn't have gone down well.

If they thought that Batista and Reigns got shit on by the fans, just imagine what HHH winning would do.

I wanna take time to reiterate that this is the same company that planned for the 30th anniversary of WrestleMania's main event to be Randy Orton vs Batista.

Not to mention that it follows the same fairy tale horror story we've seen with Triple H time and time again. Evolution lost every match with the Shield, with the exception of Seth getting counted out against Batista after a failed dive, Triple H has won like, one match in years I can even remember, and that was with him losing every single encounter with Brock outside of one, in which it was painted as basically a fluke. Triple H has an ego, but I think people can let their hate boner for the guy cloud their perception sometimes.

i'd be more inclined to think Reigns/Ambrose was the planned title match in that scenario. They can still do that and likely should at this point.

I'd laugh it off too but considering all of the other blindly stupid decisions WWE has made in recent years, it wouldn't take much for me to believe this.
