Isn't WM this year supposed to set an attendance record? If so, is it any surprise that Hunter wants to go on last?

Sounds like a terrible Mania, I have zero interest in seeing any of those matches

Where exactly was this news when Rollins was still healthy?
I just find it odd that once Seth Rollins is definitely going to be out past Mania that Dave Meltzer now reveals what the plans were supposed to be.
I like Dave Meltzer as an encyclopedia of knowledge but his sources and news always sound like nonsense.

That's so Hunter! Wouldn't have minded it one bit tbh, that's a match I can't wait to see.

The word that's made the rounds is that was the plan, but after SummerSlam Taker was feeling better than he has in years and wants to keep going for a few years longer thus why they moved the Lesnar blowoff to Hell in a Cell. Possibly a case of sources feeling a lot more forthcoming with it now that there's no chance of it happening.

If Dave came out an hour from now and reported that HHH has decided that Extreme Rules would take place in Auschwitz and be main evented by Scotty Goldman vs Unfrozen Nazi soldier Heidenreich, 85% of you guys would accept it without question because HHH is appearanly a huge douche and the biggest egomaniac ever...or something.

I'm a pretty big Triple H fan, there are things he's done I'll defend, I'd be open to him having another title reign if the story called for it and it was short, he's done awesome work behind the scenes (which makes it rather stupid to claim people are as biased against him as you say, because he's widely beloved on that front), I think he has a massive amount of classic matches to his name, but I think this is entirely in the realm of possibility for him and that he does clearly have ego issues.

Based on what? The fact he's wrestled roughly 5 matches in the last 2 years? Outside of the night after Mania 30 (setting up the Sheild Face turn) he's been nowhere near the title in years?

I'll settle for throwing out, "No making me look vulnerable or showing me hurt in any screenshots or videos for SvR," and, "AM I F***ING GOING OVER?!" and leave it at that, but could keep going for awhile.

Somewhere Bryan Alvarez is pissed that he lost this for an intro to an important chapter in 'The Death of WWE'.

We're miscommunicating a bit. I'm talking recent. I'm more talking since his time in I guess what you'd call semi-retirement. I'm not saying he's been 100% innocent of any ego stuff, but he's nowhere near the "monster" he was. To suggest he's going to win the Rumble and be in the title picture seems like a huge stretch

I think the main reason people believe this stuff so easily is because WWE is run by people (Ok someone) who are batshit insane, so the most ludicrous of stories seem possible for them.
And that goes for TNA as well
It's quite upsetting really.

The other was jobbing to Daniel Bryan, which was great, but In that case he was attaching himself to the hottest act in the company (Bryan didn't need to wrestle HHH as fans just wanted him to win the title at that point). This story, whether true or not, is entirely believable.

This story, whether true or not, is entirely believable. I'll grant you Punk. That was absolutely stupid. Yes, he beat Lesnar once, and damn near killed himself doing it. But Lesnar kicked his ass twice, very decisively I might add. He put over Bryan in a terrific match. You convienetly leave out where his legendary unbeatable heel stable was punked out by the Shield several times, the last of which beaing a CLEAN SWEEP in an elimination match. Beating Sting was idiotic, I admit. But it also involved run-ins by DX, nWo, HBK, the 3rd marine division and ended only via sledgehammer shot

This sounds like one of those "Well Seth is hurt so let's have fun with a story that nobody can prove wrong anymore" type of things we see from time to time

Unless he talked about this after starting Hall of Fame talk, I listened to that show, and I can't recall Dave saying ANY OF THIS. I do recall Dave saying that the plan was that Seth Rollins would be involved with the title at WrestleMania, whether as champion or challenging for it, which opened up talk that he could have won the Royal Rumble.
Up to recent times, Meltzer was hinting towards it still being The Rock vs. Triple H.

Of the modern era, the two times HHH has headlined 'Mania as a face have also been the two instances in which the main-event has under-impressed. The only other contenders, in my book, would be Cena vs. Rock II and Cena vs . Miz.
