The ranting and raving political ones. I admit to getting too political with some of my posts, especially concerning the recent mass shootings. My solution is to stick to comment sections elsewhere. People on my FB rarely read them anyway and I'm doing them a favor by not getting all extreme up in their grill.

People's kids. I'm glad you care, but they are special to YOU and perhaps Nana and a few fat aunts, not me. Peel it back.
Shared anything. Get your own material. It's seldom funny or informative.
Me _______ and ________ are at _______. Good for you. No one cares.
Tired. Sick. Basically anything that would be useless to even me in person.

Until recently, anything from Britain First. I have typically credited my friends with enough intelligence not to believe in that kind of far-right stuff and shared something (usually) innocent not knowing where it came from.
Then the refugee crisis happened. Someone I knew shared a BF vid about the little boy who died and how his dad was trying to get into Europe because he wanted new teeth.
In the end, I just outright blocked the Britain First page, so even if people were sharing that stuff, I didn't have to see it.
Also, anything Minion-based.

I go as far as to report the person for sharing xenophobic/racist stuff and sometimes unfollow/unfriend. Someone unfriended me recently because she wouldn't stop replying with anti-muslim comments to some things that I posted. I finally told her that I had enough and didn't want to see it on my wall. Called her out for being a bigot and she went as far as to claim she wasn't racist. Go figure.

What bugs me more is that people seem to think ranting and raving on FB about these things is actually doing something. You want to really do something about it? Vote. Volunteer. Be actually involved. Spouting off on social media is just filling the air to hear you're own voice...er, typing.

Inspirational quotes, especially romance-related ones like something to the effect of "If he cared, he wouldn't walk away," or "When I was young, I would chase, but now that I'm older, I would replace."

I went as far as deleting anyone that posts anything BNP, Britain First or UKIP related. It's not that I'm so liberal that I don't want to see anything right wing but there has to be a line drawn in the sand. Personally I get bored with middle aged women that have every single ailment going. You got a bad back? Well one of your old neighbours has one too... And guess what, she has it worse!

Called her out for being a bigot and she went as far as to claim she wasn't racist. Go figure. I only had one "friend" (someone I knew in school, never spent much time around her or anything She sent me a request, I accepted to be polite) post something outright racist. Someone commented on it "Screw this racist s***, I'm out", and I was about to do the same and unfriend her, until she deleted her profile before I could. I believe she set up a new one, but I was in no hurry to re-add her or anything, and she hasn't sent me any kind of request. I do have a low tolerance for that kind of thing.

Ever notice that many of these come from older women that can't seem to keep a man around? Maybe........... you are the problem. Ever think of that?

There's a sub-reddit out there on Reddit that is basically every Facebook meme forwarded from your grandma. I always look for new ones to post there to see what kind of reaction they get.

Vague, "poetic", inspirational quotes. That are seemingly supposed to be deep when put in front of a picture of a waterfall, sky or forest.

Those posts where they take very popular classic actresses and models and compare them to today's celebrity women with bad reputations. Like ""We had Katherine Hepburn and now it's Kim Kardashian." And by the same token, I've seen one a few times over the years with all the top dead musicians of our time compared to all the current pop stars saying "It must be heaven up there because it's hell down here." Well of course If you compare all the legends like John Lennon to One hit wonder Rebecca Black, it's not going to look good.
Comparing things that obviously don't compare to prove a point. It's never "They had Marilyn Monroe and now we've got Kate Winslet..."

-Live, Laugh, Love.... how bout' shut up, you're not original.... -Pictures of bottles of liquor and/or glasses filled with liquor... I get it, you're a lush, especially because it's every other day that they post these. -women who take pics of their "good side" with the same exact pose, just different clothes. - "I'm Blessed"..... good for you. - Inspirational/thought provoking quotes from celebrities... I'm pretty sure little Raven Symone from the cosby show or Morgan Freeman never said those quotes... - "I'm fat" or "gotta lose some weight" with a pic of them in a bikini or bathing suit. - Minions - the political posts, especially the Trump stuff. - videos of people fighting or knocking each other out
My Facebook timeline has gotten pretty depressing as of late, I haven't really gone on as of late because of it.

"If you believe [x], unfriend me."
I have a couple friends on my feed who post this at least once a month. Roll my eyes every time.
I swear, something about the Internet has really convinced even some of the most lucid, rational, compassionate people I know that they have bigots or ideological traitors in their midst on freaking Facebook and must be rooted out.
It's especially disheartening when these guys wish their buddies well on Thanksgiving and claim to value friendship, yet the next week they're willing to throw it away over a difference of opinion on some piece of Obvious Outrage Bait on Slate or Salon or HuffPo or whatever.
Such are the times we live in.

One of the things I find funny/dislike about Facebook is the tendency for people to put their personal lives out there. So I don't get on it much, but there's this one particular person who I couldn't help but notice:
1. She got married in May of this year, to the "love of her life." I remember it because she kept posting about it. 2. Fast forward to August of this year, she's in another relationship with some dude. Always posting pictures, and this is her "love of her life."
I tend to keep what goes on about my relationship private because I feel like if I post too much and I broke up with my girl, then there's going to be a ton of awkwardness. All of a sudden you're posting pics of each other and then it just stops. To me that's awkward and I couldn't handle the "what happened?" questions. In this persons case, she got MARRIED and is in another serious relationship within 6 months of each other and no one seems to say anything about it. It's so weird. Not sure where I'm going with this but that's one of the thing that irks me about Facebook, the "look we're so happy" posts. It's all a facade. I think if I got married and then divorced a few months later, the last thing I would want to do is get into another relationship.
BTW, if I remember right, she never came out and said she wasn't married anymore, but during the summer she kept posting pics and always hiding her hand so it was kinda obvious something went down. I also had a buddy of mine who went through the exact same thing, met this super hot chick, always had posts with hashtags and then a year later he puts his relationship status as divorced. Sometimes your relationship works out better if it weren't in the public eye on social media. Chill and enjoy each other's company

I don't have these problems, because I'm very heavy handed with the "unfollow" option.
