Hell yeah. I watch Smackdown like 65% of the time, I'll be watching more often now. A great announcer can make a show for me. ECW 2009 was my shit because of Striker and Grisham.

Easily the highlight of a really good show tonight. Let him call Mania dammit!

He makes everything sound like the most awesome thing ever, which is exactly what you'd want out of a commentator.

Dude is awesome. Really, he should be on Raw and Cole should be on Smackdown. He just has that excitement in his voice and genuine investment in the product that Cole has never really been able to match.
Still, I feel like watching Smackdown more often now just so I can listen to him.

Within minutes I enjoyed the energy the guy had. I disagreed with what some said about Jerry in the Smackdown thread because he sounded more energized in a while himself, but I'm glad to see I wasn't the only one impressed by Renallo tonight. The guy has an old school sportscaster sound to him. He reminds me a lot of Gorilla Monsoon. Smackdown needs him much more because they're ratings were below RAW's last I checked, but I wouldn't mind seeing him take Byron's spot on RAW in the near future.

Haven't watched Smackdown but it's cool to hear he had a good debut, really grew to like the guy when he was doing New Japan on AXS

Like I said in the Lawler thread, the guy actually sounds like he has some authority in his voice. If he tells you that so-and-so likes to have fun or you're in for a treat with someone else, I'd believe him.

He's amazing. Something he did tonight just brought that to light. The Ambrose/Owens match, just watch it. He was calling spot after spot and not only was he using actual move names but he kept reminding us that it's an actual match. When it was counted out he didn't just forget it, he brought it up a few times as they were brawling. When they were on the stage he said "it was ruled a double count out but they continue to fight" to remind us exactly what happened. Immediately after calling more spots he said "what a wicked fight" "chaos in Laredo" and even "Kevin Owens is using whatever in his disposal to hurt Dean Ambrose, he wants to finish this rivalry and finish the Intercontinental Champion once and for all!"
And the whole time the other commentators said crap like "is that a laptop?" "I don't think the fight's over", just things that made it seem as if they weren't announcers. This guy brought the fight to life and made it feel like a real competition evolving into a blood feud.
I'll continue to watch SD purely because of him. That's what you're supposed to do.

Almost every commentator does this whole winkwink-nudgenudge thing where it's like "man, wrestling sure is weird huh?" or "haha, look at this jobber get crushed by the big boys!", but not Mauro. Mauro is 100% invested in everything that happens on the show and treats it with the utmost respect. I can't even remember the last commentator to do that besides JR.

Out of all of the talents WWE is taking from New Japan, Mauro might be the most impactful.
I know he worked for AXS, but you know what I mean.

Who knew that wrestling, when called right, can be more enjoyable? WWE didn't.

He's getting a ton of love on Twitter, maybe WWE will hear it.

If any of the New Japan guys make it to Mania this year, Mauro needs to call their match.

He really has that UFC tone of voice when he speaks, which is incredibly refreshing and different from what we've been used to hearing for YEARS. He calls matches like they are legit fights, like A SPORT.
I really hope they just let him call stuff the way that he called it on that Smackdown, because he was some really good stuff.
