It never made sense how the nwo backed sting. Leaving out the WCW history (let's assume the person watching didn't see WCW and didn't know the history...) The night before we saw Hall and Nash posing with HHH and HBK X-pac and acting like best buddies...

I believe it. And it's one of the many reasons I detest Vince. He won, everyone gets it. Why not let the fans have the moment they wanted.

If I was booking this match, I would have had Hall and Nash helping HHH as the nWo, and DDP and Goldberg helping Sting. When everyone is laid out, Hogan comes down alone, echoing the "whose side is he on?" moment, but this time he drops the leg on HHH. The last WCW nostalgia angle goes out on a feel-good moment, and they get to use the spirit of "remember how good this was?" to shill the Network.

Win or lose, it was just dumb that the nWo was on Sting's side. What they should have done was have DX/NWO come out, with the NWO only seemingly being on Sting's side. Then they turn on Sting, leading to HHH winning. That would have been a perfect Sting match.

HHH needs to use a sledgehammer and various heel tactics to beat a wrestler approaching 60 years old .
What a burial

It made no sense to have Sting lose considering where they went with his Rollins feud. Even if they wanted Hunter for that program at a later date, they could have had Triple H work someone else in that time period to build him up as a worthy challenger in the minds of the fans. This was the chance to make Sting someone bigger and more credible and they failed.

Shit, and that's HHH's BUDDY talking. Hall was the one that came up with the crow gimmick for sting in the first place so yeah there is obviously a lot of respect there.

LOL that's funny Hogan said that considering the shit he pulled on Sting at Starrcade. It's like he was looking from the outside looking in. Hearing HHH verbally explain what we saw would do that to Damn near anybody. Well accept for a few people that was on the tank that turned the tide for the Monday night wars.

I get what they're going for because it was bullshit that Sting lost and it was just another feather in H's cap, but at the same time it kind of exemplifies a lot of the problems they caused in WCW as well. Hall's talking about lawyers and not doing the job of you don't get the result you want, or get more money to put somebody over. Sting has never been a dude that was obsessed with creative control like Hulk, the Outsiders, and the Kliq.
But yeah, Stinger still should have won that damn thing.

Not seeing a lot of burial talk. The only bad thing in the booking was the cheapshots Vince fed to Cole and JBL on commentary. HHH at some point will be doing the job for The Shield guys or KO etc at a future WM or SS. If he starts losing to a 55 yo part timer maybe the rub of a victory of HHH suddenly becomes like a victory over Kane or Jericho.

It was sad to hear them be that petty. Especially when Sting cuts a promo saying that it wasn't about WCW vs WWE.

Maybe Sting is more confident in his status as a man and a wrestler and realizes it's all pre-determined.
You sometimes have to wonder who the marks actually are
Plus at the tail end of his career, he gets to perform in front of a massive crowd (and presumably gets a massive pay-day as well)

Shit, and that's HHH's BUDDY talking. To be fair, Hall has always been described as having a brilliant mind for the business. He knows it was counterproductive

Shit, and that's HHH's BUDDY talking. Yeah, but Hall's always spoken highly of Sting as well. Out of all the Kliq members, Hall has always been the least likely to drink his own kool aid. He always admitted he was in wcw for money, and that the overall booking was shithouse..........his general wrestling mind has always, always been good.
