They were right not to mention TNA. One mention and Dixie would consider it a huge victory. Daft cow.

Have we ever gotten Sting's reasoning for being willing to take the fall in his WWE debut match? I'm assuming that he wasn't too fussed about it because the money was good. My guess is he got the same offer he had in 2011, but he actually still had some faith/loyalty to TNA in 2011, and after the whole AJ leaving thing he was like "so, who's pinning me?"

If I was booking this match, I would have had Hall and Nash helping HHH as the nWo, and DDP and Goldberg helping Sting. When everyone is laid out, Hogan comes down alone, echoing the "whose side is he on?" moment, but this time he drops the leg on HHH. The last WCW nostalgia angle goes out on a feel-good moment, and they get to use the spirit of "remember how good this was?" to shill the Network. Not happening with his crippled back caused by using a leg drop. Seriously, he had so much surgery he's 5 inches shorter.

My guess is that Sting's contract with WWE said that he'd be winning at WM, but after he signed it, the actual words on the page changed inexplicably to "Sting agrees to lose at WM".
The English language betrayed him!

But would Hogan go out of this world any other way than dropping the leg and exploding in a glorious ball of fire?

Hulk's back is doomed.

Hulk didn't say anything. This is what Hall was thinking. He only mentions looking at Hulk so he probably figures Hulk was thinking the same thing. Which is based on how Hogan does things. That's classic Hogan, he's always been about the politics. Hogan agrees with that look.

It's wrestling, it ain't like Sting was a young upstart and this push would kill his career. At this point, it's a money grab and a HOF induction. Win, lose, or draw he probably got a six figure check out of it.

Sting should have won without a doubt, just Vince being petty as usual.

I mean, I like Triple H, but there are far more egregious examples of Trips playing politics to the detriment of others, WrestleMania XIX most notably. This ain't one of them. Sting's illustrious thirty year history is not gonna be hurt by a total clustersmurf of a match and a loss so protected that Hunter's "win" should be in scare quotes. Hell, in three years or less, this is going to be one of those matches that the average fan won't even remember without seeing it on a WrestleMania Rewind.

I thought the commentary was the most embarrassing aspect of it. Was Vince literally on the other end telling them to say that crap or did Cole and jbs come up with it themselves without prompting? It made them look just as bad and petty either way.

Add in Punk getting fed to him in 2011, which was second only to jobbing out Booker T in terms of stupidity because of the fact that HHH was COO and no longer a full timer anymore.

I get Hall's point. No one outside of WWE thought Sting losing in his first match was a good idea. That said, Hall and Hogan aren't exactly known as the most selfless guys either. I'm sure their lawyer really would've demanded in writing that they win at 'Mania, except their match would have to be the main event. All the positive upper-hand Sting booking up to that point would've also remained the same, and the match still would've featured all the interference and international objects, but with the face winning over one of the most powerful men in the company, in and out of kayfabe. ...Yeah, that sounds about right for the Kliq/Hulkster.

"YA SEE, JACK, THE STINGER, MAN WAS ALWAYS TOO NICE. IF I WAS HIM, DUDE, I WOULD HAVE SAID: LISTEN VICIOUS VINCE, IS HUNTER REPAYING ME IN KIND? THAT'S HOW YOU DO BUSINESS. I WOULD HAVE SLAMMED HHH THROUGH THE RING, BROTHER, RIGHT THROUGH THE SAN ANDRES FAULT!! CALIFORNIA WOULD HAVE BROKE OFF THE USA, MAN, AND WHILE STEPH WOULD HAVE TEARS AFTER I KILLED HER HUSBAND, I WOULD TELL HER, DUDE, 'JUMP ON THE LARGEST BACK IN THE WORLD, AND I'LL SWIM YA TO SAFETY!!!!' SO WATCHA GONNA DO, WHEN HULKAMANIA DESTROYS YOU?!" All-time, HOF worthy post. Wow.
