Complex interview with CM Punk.(posting this here since he's not an active wrestler. Feel free to move if needed) Y'know... I'm a fan of CM Punk in general. Guy's an extremely talented wrestler and I'm sure his comic books are great even though I personally haven't read them. But CM Punk as a person? Maybe it was a bad day or maybe he didn't connect with the interviewer here, but Punk kind of acts like a dick a lot to people. I'm not saying that he needs to treat everyone like they're his best friend, and I can understand how he might be a bit more guarded since everyone keeps hounding him about UFC and "when are you returning to WWE?" and all that, but Punk is coming off like such an unlikable person in all forms of media lately. I mean, this interviewer wasn't asking anything too unreasonable, but I don't know.

That everybody that people wanted to see treated like shit, Punk treated like shit when other people would have balked at it. Just now, he's turning his wrath onto people that don't even remotely deserve it.

That was a well-written article. I liked how the writer didn't even really go after Punk despite obviously having a bad experience; instead going: "This is what happened."
Granted, that's all coming filtered through the prism of how the writer framed it. I suppose we'd actually have to hear what exactly was said, and the tone to see who was in the 'right' there.

One MMA loss will change everything. That's all it's going to take.
As for Punk, his act can grow tired, but, honestly, I think that's always been the guy. He's a miserable SOB for the part, but loyal to his close associates, AJ, Kofi, Colt to name a few.

Can't wait to see this dude get his ass kicked even though he's going to be as protected as possible. He wouldn't be in this interview or even in the UFC as the sideshow he is if it wasn't for WWE. No use throwing a temper tantrum over it.

I hate to act like an armchair psychologist but here goes.... The more I hear Punk interviewed and see him answering questions I get the increasing sense that he is a man who doesn't believe in what he is doing anymore. I think he has bitten off more than he can chew with this UFC move, and he now knows it but is too proud to admit that he is in way over his head and pull out. Hence the over the top defensive attitude he takes whenever he is asked innocent questions. I'm no Dr Marvin Monroe, but that's how I see it. Feel free to quote this back at me when Punk is 10-0 and the UFC Middleweight Champion

I know its a weak excuse I just like the article.

Punk comes off like a real dillhole here but what else is new? That's basically dude's prerogative. I really do hope that he's just putting on a show like I think he is because he truly does come off like an unlikeable human being in situations like this. Yeah, getting asked the same questions is annoying but that's part of the f***ing job, dude. You should know that, I'm sure you did tons of media stuff in WWE. You grit your teeth and get through it, don't go HAM on the interviewer for doing their job and asking questions that very well could have been assigned to them with no input from them.
Everybody has a bad day but the person writing the article didn't even have to do a "hatchet" job. Punk did a perfectly good job of making himself look shitty through his shitty personality.

To give one defense of Punk, his post-WWE public life doesn't seem like it's been going too great. When you combine the original Colt Cabana podcast, people actually camping outside his house, constant questions regarding a wrestling return, the UFC announcement and resulting criticisms from that, and waiting over a year to actually compete and having people questioning/doubting him for that entire time, I mean... that kinda sounds horrible.

This article is why the WWE was never going to make Punk the face of the company. He lets way too many things get to him and even if he is justified in being upset at some things you can't take it out on the paying customers.

Kudos to the reporter. Seriously dude never came across as condescending or bitter or rewrote it as a hatchet job. He even admits where he may went a bit wrong but doesn't throw no ill will. Instead he reported well things went south and that happened and let's you decide for yourself.

Ok can we start a petition so that he never ever writes/ruins the punisher? His thor story was the shits, Drax is mediocre at best...
That being said, he's gonna implode during fight week when every question is gonna be about if he can take a punch or knows what he's getting himself into.
The interview really showed his character, like in the wwe if a writer wrote something he didn't like, he would rip it off.
Also why is he getting featured on that publicity stunt with the hockey team? He hasn't even fight yet, he should be training because in the coming weeks his opponent is gonna be determined, it's either Mickey Gall or Mike Jackson.
Finally, the fact that he claims that Duke Roufous isn't a bully is bullshit, because numerous fighters like Rose Namajunas have spoken against him, f*** it even a fighter from Roufusport died on his watch during a fight he promoted.
...I don't believe that a 38 year old that never sparred or train in his life to be a natural striker.

What a f***ing douche. Guy needs to get over himself and realize that not everyone is an obsessed fan that knows his whole story (or gives a shit for that matter.) I am officially firmly in the camp that wants to see him get slept in his debut. Every writer interviewing him since the announcement he was coming to UFC asks the same repetitive questions. I don't blame him for being a jerk to someone asking him to explain how he's "making the transition from fake punches to real ones." How is anyone supposed to respond to that the 60th time it's asked? The response is, stop asking him to put it into words and wait until he fights. Well then he should stop agreeing to do interviews. Simple.

Why would Punk stop being an asshole when an entire legion of fans not only excuses him, but actually enjoys and gravitates to that part of his personality?

Why would Punk stop being an asshole when an entire legion of fans not only excuses him, but actually enjoys and gravitates to that part of his personality? That is another thing. He's basically a turbo nerd's lone wolf rebel fantasy, and someone they want to believe they style themselves after. He can do whatever he wants and people will flock buy his latest merch from his PWT store. I used to consider myself a big fan of the guy but almost everything he does sours me on him. He's perennially 15 and it's not a good look. Cool when I was that age, but that was almost a decade ago.

And that's what I like about the reporter of the article. He obviously had a shitty interview that probably ruined his day and got him heat from his boss when he found out Punk never wants a interview from him again and he still wrote a calm and composed and professional article. I'm not dog piling on Punk since everyone handles criticims and annoyances differently and not everyone is born or can develop thick skin. But goddamm you can clearly see the extreme differences between Punk and The Reporter of the thickness in their skin and how they handle bad moods. Like it's almost like a tutorial on how to be a professional and how not to be one.

After that interview I'm really rooting for Punk to get his ass kicked. Though maybe that's the point of how he acts.
