UFC 200 is in July. Punk has 5 months to get ready. If he loses or pulls out, it will haunt him, and Vince would lowball him for a return.

This article is why the WWE was never going to make Punk the face of the company. He lets way too many things get to him and even if he is justified in being upset at some things you can't take it out on the paying customers. This. To be the #1 guy in WWE now means you have to be like Cena. You need the happy smiley persona. Punk just doesn't have it. Neither does Roman really. And that's why I don't think WWE saw him as their top guy, along with the fact he looks like a drug dealer who hasn't slept for three days.

Cena pretty much talks to everyone that stops him at the airport, from fans to reporters. He has never lost his composure or acted unprofessionally. There's never been an instance where he acted like an asshole. During his championship run Miz was also very professional, he did every media obligation and didn't complain. In the podcast Colt Cabana tried to imply that maybe the reason the wwe wanted Sheamus to be on the cover of the game and why the writers and people from the company didn't approach Punk with endorsement deals or opportunities, was because he was an asshole and people stopped wanting to work with him.

Speaks like a man who knows his days are numbered. He's gonna get found out so badly in the Octagon. He can't speak specifically about any aspect of it. Sounds like a poser! Wonder what the odds are of his jobbing to Triple H and Wrestlemania 33.
This quote made me laugh too: “A few weeks ago he found a young fan and his mom cramming Easter candy into the mail slot of his front door"
Those evil bastards. I hope Punk gave examples on how to correctly punch on their face.

Remember when he said Rock was an ass kiss just because he was friendly and respectful to the people he worked with? Punk is just a weird guy. His cult of fans are really annoying too.

I dunno, I don't see anything wrong with it. He doesn't wanna answer stupid questions like they've never been asked.
I'm also a fan of Doug Stanhope, who posts his home address all over the Internet, asks people to send him things and basically dares you to show up at his doorstep to hang out, which is a fanbase he refers to as "school shooters without the bullets"
I'm sorry Punk doesn't glad hand you on every single thing, but I know Punk as the WWE guy, who entertained me with wrestling, that's why I'm a fan, not because he's nice to reporters.

It frightens me that in 2016, people are actually spending money to wear a t-shirt that blares out "SOCIOPATHIC ATHIEST yadayada." Wow, good for you. "Hot Topic Class of '98" should be emblazoned on the back.

CM Punk: Cantankerous Douchebag. Guess the stress of having 12 kids finally caught up to him.

I'm sure answering the same questions gets old, but what else are they going to ask him about in regards to his fight career? There's no track record or anything at all they can point to and tie it in, no history to draw from; so naturally they'd almost have to tie it into the other thing involving physicality he's known for.
I'm sure some interviewers phrase the sorts of questions douchier than others, and that has to get frustrating. But again, there's not a whole helluva lot they can ask in respect to him entering fighting as he has yet to do it. Further, at least in the reporter's article there, it didn't seem like he was being unreasonable asking for maybe a specific example on something Punk is working to improve upon. Sure, "everything" is a true statement, but if you're trying to promote yourself it would see to behoove you to engage a little more than that. One doesn't have to of course, but it seems weird to agree to an interview otherwise.
What else are they gonna ask? "Hey, do you like Skittles?"

It's this aspect of him that always stopped me being a proper fan of his.
I liked CM Punk a lot, he was a good wrestler and a great promo, and I think the WWE has missed him a lot since he left.
But there is always this undercurrent of smarm and smugness to him, plus all the stories of him acting like a complete dick to people. There was no need to act like a jerk here.

This article is why the WWE was never going to make Punk the face of the company. He lets way too many things get to him and even if he is justified in being upset at some things you can't take it out on the paying customers. Didn't stop the WWF putting it's full weight behind Shawn Michaels in the 90s, and Randy Orton in the early 2000s so I doubt that was the reason they didn't get behind Punk, more that they had Cena and didn't care to make anyone else. Free time CM Punk is a toolbag, but CM Punk on the company dime was as professional as everyone else on the roster, people forget that he did a decent job at keeping much of his negativity bottled up while he was employed by them. He did things like SDCC panels and web shows where he came off as likeable, and any time the WWE wanted him to interact with fans/the media he did a good job, the internet would have been awash with complaints about him if he didn't. Sometimes I think the dumbest thing Punk ever did was be open about not being the nicest guy when approached in his downtime, you have a chunk of the fanbase looking for excuses to poke the bear and others looking for things to justify their belief that he's a terrible human being rather than just a normal person who has his good points, his bad points and has a hard time dealing with unsolicited attention like everyone else.

CM Punk was a great character and an awesome wrestler.

UFC 200 is in July. Punk has 5 months to get ready. If he loses or pulls out, it will haunt him, and Vince would lowball him for a return. Not really. It doesn't work like that. First of all UFC will make sure CM Punk gets his proper debut by either a clean win or a near win loss. He is too much of a spectacle to crash and burn right at take off. Buzz he will generate for his debut and UFC career will be greater than any buzz WWE can come up with right now. Basically media will be over CM Punk when the time comes and UFC will stand behind it. So this will only make CM Punk hotter and more expensive. Neither does Roman really. . And that's why I don't think WWE saw him as their top guy, along with the fact he looks like a drug dealer who hasn't slept for three days. Maybe Cena is the great role model but he overstayed for way too long. Probably. Take a look at the ratings drop and more importantly value of the stock and profit margins which have dropped by 50% in just half a decade. Product is stale and it shows I'm sure answering the same questions gets old, but what else are they going to ask him about in regards to his fight career? There's no track record or anything at all they can point to and tie it in, no history to draw from; so naturally they'd almost have to tie it into the other thing involving physicality he's known for. One doesn't have to of course, but it seems weird to agree to an interview otherwise. What else are they gonna ask? "Hey, do you like Skittles?" Agree. I think the writer is hands down professional and genuine. He interpreted CM Punk's persona as it is. This is nothing more than a promotional piece for CM Punk. Just because this is "real life" now doesn't mean that Punk will drop the act that got him where he is right now. The moment he starts acting maturely, like 37 year old man instead of a boy like someone has mentioned, all his appeal is gone and he becomes another faceless fighter. UFC needs more developed characters and what a better way to do that than Punk.

For someone who doesn't seem to care what people think he seems super sensitive and salty. The reporter asked a legit question, Punk has no experience at all, sure it gets boring being asked that but what are they meant to ask when they have nothing to go on?

Besides, who gives a shit what he wants to put on his shirts? The man clearly knows who he is, knows his audience, and what will potentially sell to them. I can't really go any further into what I'd like to say without derailing this into a discussion that would just get locked, so yeah...

If I were the interviewer, as my final question I would have asked Punk if he knew he had struck an innocent fan the night he ran up into the audience on the October 8th, 2012 edition of RAW. Then I would have taken out my phone and shown him the proof on youtube.
It's not a boring question and I'm sure he has rarely, if ever been asked that question by a journalist before.

Asshole era Shawn got fired when his drug issues became too much of a problem. Asshole era Orton got buried for a full year to humble him. Punk was not professional all the time, in his own DVD Michael Hayes said that Punk would treat the writers badly and other people on the company, and that he was a moody prick. Bottom line is that the ufc, his new employer, send him on a media tour at that hockey game, they are paying him, he should know by this point that pretty much every question is gonna be repetitive. Come fight week, he's gonna face this like a million times so he should get used to it.
