Punk's not even a blue belt apparently. And yes, THAT Renzo. Honest to God, I'll probably hammer the under on the total rounds because I don't think it can get low enough. Renzo don't train no jabronis, his academy prides itself as prestigious. Gail knocked out a Golden gloves champion. A Golden gloves champion means a legit striker.
Where did this kid came from? I wonder if Dana picked him up thinking it would be a tomato can?
Duke can't create a strategy for this dude, Ben Askren can not teach him enough wrestling, Pettis can't teach him enough striking, and Woodley can't give him power.
This is the end my only friend. I'm watching the ufc network, and the analyst is Mario Delgado, the one who was a guest trainer with Werdum for TUF Latin America, he also has a prestigious bjj academy in Mexico, and he also participated in Abu Dhabi, he said that Punk looked scared. I'm gonna take the expert's point of view.
CM Punk already lost the mental warfare, he's already snake bit.
I mentioned it in the Fight Night thread but he looked like he wanted NO part of Gall. And I can't say I blame him. I'm never one to say someone is faking an injury but there's part of me that will be very surprised to see him make it to UFC 200(Or that week, at least. Depending on which card they put him on)

Punk is Michael Spinks while Mike Tyson is walking to the ring.

If I was Punk I'd just focus on writing comics. It's much safer than messing with these UFC barbarians. I'd also be a lot nicer and less angry at humanity. He should've done the amateur circuit, or train quietly, now dude has a target, now Mr Punk wanted to fight with the big boys. It doesn't matter if Gall is 2-0, Cain was 1-0 when he signed to the ufc, Matt Mitrione was 0-0, what did people expected? An easy fight?
When Kimbo was doing the Street fights, a cop from Boston actually defeated him, that cop got a fight on the ufc, long story short the cop ended up on the hospital.

Hey Punk, it's not too late. Just call HHH. You can still main event Wrestlemania and lose to him!

Ok, Gail looks like he's on a bigger weight class than Punk, I can't be the only one noticing that.

I really cant wait till punk fights. win or lose that first fight will be really interesting and eventually (maybe even match 1) he will get obliterated and I will laugh. This coming from a guy that was super into punks big run that summer. Dude killed it before wwe killed him. He was amazing. Yet I still want to see him get ktfo. I wanted Brock to destroy everyone in ufc. But I really want to see punk get clobbered.

AND Gall is a brown belt under Renzo. Makes me wonder if the over/under on rounds is going to be like .5 or something absurd. Punk is not even a purple belt.
The Renzo Gracie? Like in Renzo Gracie the son of Carlson Gracie and legit black belt that taught Serra and Weidman?
How can any athletic comission can approve this fight? It is a farce.
Also that Punk has had at least a dozen concussions by his own admission, he shouldnt even step foot near the octagon. The entire thing is just one rediculous publicity stunt.

I'm a sports journalist. His job is literally to sit there answering the same questions by 1000 different people phrased in very slightly different ways. This is a business with millions of potential dollars at stake, not a circus for his personal entertainment. What he did was unprofessional and instead of understanding the covenant that athletes and journos have together in terms of mutual gain, he decided that he was bored so that reporter had to go to his editor and tell him that in fact he didn't get the story that was requested of him. You're saying you're a journalist.. And it's a part of the job to do what everyone else does by asking the same questions everyone else does and bringing back a story. So he did that, and like you said.. didn't bring back a story. Even by YOUR definition he's a poor journalist. All he did was spin one when he failed at getting one.. I'm a journalist too. Everything said by heroicdanger is 100% on point. Not every interview can be a groundbreaking, award winning, expose that will enlighten the masses in new and wonderful ways. The dude was more than likely told by his editor what type of interview to get based on any number of factors. Had this been a hardcore mma site the questions would have been different but this, like many, many, online/print publications/websites was basically trying to spread the word that punk was fighting to its readership, maybe that readership isn't aware of punks history, maybe that readership hasn't read about what punk thinks taking a real punch feels like. Yeah punk has heard it a million times, the journo maybe even knows this but his concern isn't what punk has heard before, it is what his editor wants or what he believes is the right content for his particular audience. Dude was doing a job, punk was being a dick. Then he had the good grace to not do a hatchet job on him, you want to see what that looks like read the stuff that came out about man Utd manger Louis van gaal in the sun after he called their chief football writer "fat man". No, instead he turned the piece into something that was actually more engaging than what his puff piece would have been because it shows that a. Punk is a dick and b. It looks like he is cracking under the pressure and c. Punk is a dick.

About being asked "what flaws are you correcting", I took his answer to that as defensive but in a different way: why would he give away a weakness publicly before a fight? The theory of him knowing he's in over his head and being defensive is quite possible as well.
Yeah he's a prick, but for some reason, it's in a way that doesn't bother me. He's way too much like one of my best friends (minus the straight edge part). Totally get wanting to see him get his ass kicked though.

I dunno, I don't see anything wrong with it. He doesn't wanna answer stupid questions like they've never been asked. Except that's being famous. Punk is well within his rights to not want to answer those questions (although it's unfair to call them stupid, it's kinda journalism 101 that you want your own quotes about things rather than other people's), but considering one of his beefs with WWE was not getting to main event Mania... you can't headline the biggest show of the year and not do the media runaround, same as being at the top of any industry. To believe any less is pretty much delusional.

Punk: I said I was fighting and you all fell for it! I'm not mad at you, I'm just disappointed in you.

It's so one-sided against Punk that I can't help but feel Punk is going to win because it's all a work, brother. Would not be shocked in the slightest.

The thing that jumped out at me from that interview was this sentence:
"Beyond that fight, Punk will be entering the Octagon at least seven more times."
"Beyond that fight, Punk will be entering the Octagon at least seven more times."
"Beyond that fight... seven more times."
"seven more times."
See... This sentence goes off the rails almost immediately at, "Beyond that fight". Punk ain't even going to make it beyond the first round. There's no way he has eight fights in the UFC.
