I demand at least one Chikara wrestler, WITH Gimmick. Why have one when we can have four? Also, isn't the limit at Cruiserweight 220 lbs., and not 205? They want their little guys to be extra flippy.

Also, isn't the limit at Cruiserweight 220 lbs., and not 205? 220 in WCW/Japan and 225 in WWE according to Wiki but most of the WWE roster would be close to, if not at, that limit nowadays. Even with the roster getting smaller and smaller, I kind of wish the Cruiserweight limit stayed at 220-225. If more guys are considered "junior heavyweights" then that makes the juniors seem more "diverse" in the sense that "all these guys are under 220-225, but they all wrestle different styles". Plus a higher weight limit pushes the bigger guys to work harder on their ring work. If the "cruiserweights" are 220 lbs, then the 225-250 lb mid-sized heavyweights have to step up their in-ring efforts. I like seeing smaller guys get chances, but don't want the influx of smaller talents resulting in John Cena/Randy Orton-sized guys being labeled as "big men" and pigeonholed into wrestling like hosses.

I feel like a lot of the answers that Triple H gave was, in a sense, a justifiable response to the conspiracy theory as of late that he doesn't care about NXT so much as he wishes to kill the indies dead.
When you read what the man actually says, it seems that he's keenly aware that NXT and WWE as a whole need the independent and international wrestling scene to thrive.

another name to watch is Matt Riddle, who WWE actually sent to EVOLVE to work on his wrestling.

Seems a bit unfair that they are using a lot of uncontracted talent (and will be with this Cruiserweight show) while those under contract can't compete with them on equal ground by wrestling elsewhere in turn.

I wish this was a thing in the mid 90's... back when we had the Super J Cup, and the big BOSJ tournaments and all these great colorful cruiserweights... Might be ignorance, but I'm not that excited about it, because, just like Corbin, I don't know these people. I'd like to see some nostalgia acts in it. Lyger, Dragon, Sasuke, Delfin, TAKA, Psicosis, La Parka, Juventud... I read in Ring of Hell (so take it with a grain of salt) that supposedly the cruiser weights wanted to do something similar to the Super J Cup and Best of The Super Juniors in WCW. The idea was to have Dean Malenko book it, but Bischoff shot it down. Could've been great when you consider how deep that roster was at the time and Konnan could have brought in more Luchadors if need be, plus the talent exchange they had with New Japan. We all joke about TJ Wilson and his stack of Puroresu tapes, but put him on commentary for the tournament. He would probably know a lot of the participants as both a fan and a peer. While we're at it, where's Mike Tenay? As bad as he was in TNA, if he came in and turned his voice down a couple of decibels and go back to being "the professor", he could really shine in that position. I'm up for an Tenay, Kidd and Mark team.

Still can't get over how glorious this news is... It goes without saying, Ricochet and a returning Matt Sydal (the guy has been on fire these past couple of years on the indys. If they still have a problem with his substance abuse then a temporary contract for just this series and not an eventual main roster/NXT spot is perfect. He is just too good to miss out on) are musts

Did I miss something? Has Quack been in contact with the E? He spent last week at the Performance Center training the NXT guys and gals. flailingarms.gif

Hm. If it's just a short-lived tournament, fine. If they wind up making a whole brand out of it or bringing back the Cruiserweight title or something then I call foul. I could see them making it a yearly thing if it ends up being really popular.

How many people are actually missing out? They grant releases to talent that request them so they can work on their overall game/find that spark again, they run pretty regular house shows and workers are being used. If it's about someone like Alex Riley than maybe he should have the balls to request his release so that he can improve? They did the same thing to Sami Callihan & Juice Robinson who were overall much more important and prominent than Riley.

Since the actual event is months away, I hope they take their time and build it up like it's an actual thing. Use the Network to build up excitement with cruiser weight matches from the past, perhaps introduce the wrestlers and profile them a bit. Give the audience something to latch onto and care about rather than having guys who the casual audience looks at and just says "meh."

They did the same thing to Sami Callihan & Juice Robinson who were overall much more important and prominent than Riley. What are you even talking about? WWE is aware that that the best talent is out on the indies, yet doesn't seem willing to do the leg work to make the inner workings of their company more like the indies and that really bugs me. Let me put it this way, The hypothetical wrestlers being brought in for this show would be wrestling on a WWE produced show AND on the indies, while many WWE talents would be wrestling ONLY on a WWE produced show. On the indies, every match is a potential main event, whereas in WWE, one's ability to have a "good" match seems to be directly correlated to one's spot on the pecking order or how bad WWE wants to make fetch happen with a guy. In addition to competing with themselves, contracted workers are now also competing with people who aren't even employed and even then really can't even do much to standout because even with Excessive TV and house shows, WWE are poor at time management and obsessed with getting their faves over at the expense of everything else. In regards to releases, one should not need to ask for a release if inversely one does not have to even be signed to wrestle on WWE programming.

N I hope to see Christopher Daniels and Kazarian in the tournament. I won't mind Daniels but not really interested in Kazarian as a singles guy.
