How many people are actually missing out? They grant releases to talent that request them so they can work on their overall game/find that spark again, they run pretty regular house shows and workers are being used. If it's about someone like Alex Riley than maybe he should have the balls to request his release so that he can improve? They did the same thing to Sami Callihan & Juice Robinson who were overall much more important and prominent than Riley. What are you even talking about? WWE is aware that that the best talent is out on the indies, yet doesn't seem willing to do the leg work to make the inner workings of their company more like the indies and that really bugs me. Let me put it this way, The hypothetical wrestlers being brought in for this show would be wrestling on a WWE produced show AND on the indies, while many WWE talents would be wrestling ONLY on a WWE produced show. On the indies, every match is a potential main event, whereas in WWE, one's ability to have a "good" match seems to be directly correlated to one's spot on the pecking order or how bad WWE wants to make fetch happen with a guy. In addition to competing with themselves, contracted workers are now also competing with people who aren't even employed and even then really can't even do much to standout because even with Excessive TV and house shows, WWE are poor at time management and obsessed with getting their faves over at the expense of everything else. In regards to releases, one should not need to ask for a release if inversely one does not have to even be signed to wrestle on WWE programming. The hypothetical wrestlers being brought in are not working regular shows and are likely meant as early eliminiation warm bodies to help a 32-man tournament have a broad spectrum of talent rather than three good NXT guys and a bunch of greenhorns who'd kill interest in the whole thing pretty quick. You can't do ten episodes of a show carried only by a Manny Andrade push and toss in a bunch of guys who aren't ready for TV. Especially if the idea is to use the outsourced talent as a ways of looking at guys in a WWE environment, where it can serve as a tryout and help them guage not only how guys work in their environment, but also how a crowd takes to them. This isn't randos taking up main roster spots for one-off matches for no reason. WWE has no reason to make their company more like the indies. What really bugs me is that you don't seem to grasp the actual lack of a reason for WWE to let their guys work elsewhere. If literally any other wrestling company had money to contractually lock down a roster instead of only the top talents they want to hold onto, they would do it too. Nobody wants to be "like the indies", because the major indies all have the pipe dream of actually being able to grow to a point where they can do what WWE does. So what possible sense does it make for WWE to scale their shit down and go for something 'lesser'? The solution to solving the conundrum of "they're not really independent contractors" shouldn't be "let them be independent so they can go work even more matches", it's "recognize them as proper employees and give them the protections and benefits of being employees, including health ensurance and rights that will help the wrestlers keep in better health".

7 pages is a lot to read.
This sounds like the sort of thing CHIKARA would do. And although it's been about 7 years since I've properly watched CHIKARA (damn I feel old/a nerd), that's enough to get my interest. Also if this gets Chuck Taylor & Ricochet 1 step closer to a WWE ring that's only a good thing.

I see Hunter has moved on from his NWA tapes to New Japan. Now I have the image of HHH and Kidd meeting up once a week to watch old wrestling tapes in my head.

More info on the Ibushi news.
So not only has Nakamura left New Japan, but he's poaching guys for NXT now?
Bad, bad, Shinsuke.
But I forgive him.

If he loses in the first round I wouldn't mind him being in it for continuity reasons

He's starting his own promotion in Japan so he obviously won't sign but it would be sick if Ibushi came in for it.

NJPW has announced the return of the Super J Cup this summer, in partnership with multiple worldwide promotions.
It shall be very interesting to see which talent gets booked for SJC and the GCS, and if there is any crossover of talent between them. Shall be very much a sweepstakes in the coming months for Trips and Gedo to sure their wanted talents for their respective tournaments. It's going to be very interesting seeing the develmemts for both
