Could be the set-up for the Season 6 finale perhaps.  Since my original idea since the Season 5 finale got shot down with Sunburst's introduction, the speculation is wide-open what the Season 6 finale will be about. |

Alright couple of episodes to start things off. Not as grand in scope as the season premieres of years past, but more than enough entertainment and comedy to keep things moving at an engaging clip.
Most of the baby related stuff were amusing (The fatigue laden Shining Armor scenes in particular.)
The interactions between Starlight and Sunburst were handled well enough for me. And it is realistic to see a character who understands the concepts of their field of interest, but can't seem to practically apply them well enough to make a living. But it was also nice to see in the end he was able to use his vast knowledge to help others in their time of need.
Spike surprisingly gets the most profound line of the episode(s) talking about sometimes it's best to take a more hands (Hoofs) off approach with ones pupil and let them learn on their own, even making a mistake or two along the way to learn from. (After all Twilight did learn from one of the best hoofs off mentors in history. So she already know the score.)
As for the problems yeah I agree as others as said the first part was pretty much exposition central and some manufactured drama in part two drag it down a little. (Yes you dumb Crystal ponies just ignore the FREAKING HUGE STORM CLOUDS RIGHT ABOVE YOUR HEADS, because you don't want to give up your precious front row seats.)
But still I wasn't bored so I'll go with an 8/10.

Something Eunos will probably like with me watching the Season at a delay...no more clips from the episodes as my sole posts after an episode. |
