Stunned. Breathtaking agility, hard hitting and outstanding story telling. That's all I want from wrestling. Keep it simple, and provide an incredible spectacle.

Truth be told he made love to all of us tonight and has us begging for more.
He has a creepy looking colar bone though.

Fantastic match but it wasn't 5 stars for me. Felt a little too spotfesty at times and it's really sad what passes for selling in wrestling these days. After getting the shit kicked and kneed out of him by Nakamura for like a minute straight (after all the forearms), Sami pops up within seconds for the big clothesline spot, then rips off like two or three straight moves while showing ZERO ill effects from the beatdown he just got.
Stuff like that kills it for me, BUT all that said, still, fantastic mach (just not perfect). Great way to introduce Nakamura to the NXT/WWE universe and his theme music is unbelievable.

To me that is just blind adrenaline and feeding off of what the opponent hits you with. Angers you, fuels you to strike back.
To me it isn't no selling, you're getting hurt, you're feeling it, but you're basically willing your body not to collapse.
The spot where Nakamura hit Zayn with a kick and he stumbled and just slowly folded in on himself as his body just gave out, is some of the best selling I've seen in modern day wrestling, ever.

It's not all the time you see a guy come in to NXT and on match one think "Man, he's ALREADY ready to go to the main roster", but dammit all Nakamura was that guy tonight.
Shame I didn't contribute to the thread that much, but I just had to actually watch this match.

Just watched this. I'm, like, legit emotional over how great that was. I feel privileged to have watched it. It was as close to perfect as a pro wrestling match can be.

I loved the spot you mentioned there at the end of your post, but the adrenaline thing just doesn't work for me. I love spots where the guy on the receiving end of beating gets a short burst of energy, counters with a quick flash clothesline or something, and then both men are down and out for the 10 count. Those always work and if Sami had done that tonight, it would have fit the match perfectly. But to just shrug off all those kicks, knees and forearms from a guy who is having his first match on WWE TV, who they are presumably trying to get over as a super deadly striker, was just bad on Sami's part. And it's doubly bad because he's such an amazing worker, but that was an awful sequence for me.

Unsurprisingly the video package promo set the tone and story perfectly. It was a match based around respect but Sami will not let Nakamura come in and have it easy. Nakamuras perfect theme, theatrics, lighting, jacket and entrance was perfect
And the aftermath of the respect and Samis perfect and deserved standing ovation exit. Just outstanding
All these things around compliment the match itself to me, which was perfect in itself anyway, to help my rating of it even more
***** Stars, all of the f***ING stars. And being on FAN thread for it enjoyable even more.
Cheers to us for being a thing. A big part of my life for 7 years now, I wish I found this place earlier in my wrestling fandom (which takes up a good 3/4 of my life so far). As another poster said you make matches and shows like that even more special

Saw this on Reddit: During the match, commentary referred to the danger of Nakamura's knee strike finisher and called it the "Kinshasa" (as opposed to "Boma Ye" as it was previously called). Now, if you google that, expecting it to be Japanese for "infinite swag", you'll be surprised to see instead that it's the name of the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo (formerly Zaire). Hmm... If you know the origin of "Boma Ye", this is an easier reference to figure out. In 1974, Muhammad Ali fought George Foreman in what was known as "The Rumble in the Jungle", an historic and heavily promoted boxing match. Those local to the match were fond of chanting "Ali, boma ye!" during the match, which translates to "Ali, kill him!", so "Boma Ye", of course, means "Kill Him", which, of course, is badass. However, it's also a little brutal for PG WWE, so they renamed it after the city that The Rumble In the Jungle was held in: Kinshasa. That's awesome, as an added bonus, Kinshasa is also the home of the Japanese Embassy.

I haven't seen the match yet since the event started at 4am here last night, can't wait to watch it. This was the match I was most hyped about for the entire weekend because both of those guys are just fantastic, glad to see that Shinsuke has gained a lot of new fans already.

Great match. I'd say the only bad part was the awkwardly long forearm exchange.

"'Boma Ye' is too brutal, just name it after Kinshasa. Absolutely nothing brutal or horrible has ever happened in Kinshasa, after all...."

Fantastic match, one of the best I've seen in a long time. Nakamura is going to be a huge star. Dude has 'it'.
Also Sami Zayn should get a huge amount of credit, he was the perfect opponent for this match. What a wrestler.

NXT workers go through an insane amount of trouble coming up with little Easter eggs to put into their ring names or finisher names.

If you've followed his NJPW work, you'll know he didn't even show 50% of his talent tonight Great match though I've noticed he only turns it up when hes wrestling his close bros Still an amazing match

I think it was a little choppy watching live but I will probably be checking out this match again later. The feed did stop/start a few times but I was so bombed out of my mind in awe that I missed a lot of specific maneuvers.
