As discussed in the other thread, we're going to have two threads here for football. The usual footie thread is for any domestic discussion, be it transfer rumours, Managerial changes, Summer club friendlies and such. This thread is specifically for the various international competitions taking place this summer, so mainly Euro 2016 and Copa America and any international friendlies in preparation for them.
The usual rules apply. A bit of National pride and light piss-taking is ok, Xenophobia and flaming/baiting is not. We all know how far is too far, so keep it friendly.
So, predictions for Euro 2016? I'm going with France to win that. Copa America? Argentina get my vote. (Yes, I know I've picked both the favourites but there's a reason why they're favourite).

Belgium drew 1-1 against Finland at home yesterday, in a match where the home side dominated possession, but only managed to score after a cross by Mertens was tapped in by Lukaku, who was in offside position when the cross was whipped in.
Going to be a somewhat hard Euros for Belgium if they keep on being so wasteful in the box and so uncreative (almost every chance they got was a header after a cross) in breaking down a team that sits deep.
Predictions: France to win the Euros, despite having no pure goalscorers in the attack and Chile to win Copa America a second time in two years.

I'll be damned if I can pick a winner of Euro 2016. Best I can tell none of the usual suspects have been in sterling form for the past year. The Germans, French, and Spanish have all had patchy results and performances, Italy may have one of their worst teams in decades, and Portugal look run-of-the-mill whenever Ronaldo doesn't play.

Yeah I'm going with France to win the Euros. Just looking at the depth of their attacking midfield and forwards is enough to scare the hell out of me and I'm not even playing.
Having said that I will say England have a better chance than they've had in recent tournaments. I'll be shocked if they don't make it out of the group stages like Brazil 2014. If they tighten up their defence and just let Vardy, Kane, Alli and Rashford run riot then I think they'll make the semi-final at least.

Austria, Albania or Poland to win the Euros. I'm onto a winner there.
As for the Copa, Chile or Colombia.

England could go quite far if the owl actually lets his team have a go and play their proper positions.
That said, I'm going with France and Argentina as well in their respective tournaments.

France are the favourites? Wow, shows how much I know. I was at the pub the other night talking about how they were my dark horses to do well! I'd make the Germans favourites myself. They're not at the top of their game but on paper they're by far and away the best European team.
As for the Copa America. Argentina seem the logical bet but I fancy Uruguay to cause some problems. They're so potent as an attacking threat they are bound to cause at least a few problems to "bigger teams".

Problem for Uruguay is that Suarez won't be there for the start of the tournament due to his hamstring, and he may not be 100 percent when he is. Now, a 70'percent Suarez is better than 100 percent of almost the entire world burn, Uruguay is going to have to show that they can win without them if have to. If they can do that, and Suarez can find his form and fitness, they're a threat.

Also, after mentioning that England must play people in the right positions, I then see Vardy out on the wing again.
What's the point of even bringing him if he isn't going to play up front?

Bah Gawd! Kane took a big boot to the face. And no-sold it like Hogan during a comeback sequence.

If Roy is going to play that formation, then why did he choose to leave Townsend, an actual winger, out of the squad? Especially considering he's in far better form than the only winger he did take, Sterling. If he's going to persist with that formation with the squad he's chosen, he needs to play Rashford in that position, since that's where he played the majority of his youth career and he has the pace to cause problems out there. Vardy is a good player, but he's not world class, and he's just a striker. By not playing him as a striker Roy's further limiting an already limited player.

I would pick France as favourites just ahead of Spain & Germany but not convinced by any team at the moment. There is no stand out. Germany are the World Champions though so they might save their best for the tournament.
There is a chance here for an England, Portugal or Belgium to step up or even an outside bet like Wales or Slovakia. Italy don't look strong but you can never cancel them out. After Greece won it 12 years ago and Denmark in 92 you never know

Copa America Centenario has just kicked off with USA vs Colombia.
Cristian Zapata scored to give Colombia the lead less than 10 minutes in.

Guys like Cameron play in the premier league and he looks nervous. You play in England and can't even defend a simple set piece.
F*** off.

James Rodriguez converts a penalty. 2-0 Colombia.
A bit harsh, in my opinion, calling the handball on DeAndre Yedlin. Looks like one of those which would have hit some other part of him anyway, if not his arm.

Officials do realize there is such things as ball to hand, right? Apparently not.
Does Klinsmann really think we have the talent or the creativity to play 4-3-3? Does the stupid prick think we have Cesc Fabregas from his Arsenal days or something?

Jermaine Jones throwing a hissy fit after being subbed off is the only bit of entertainment I've gotten out of this match. He was without question the worst player on the pitch chasing shadows and he's acting like Klinsmann subbed off Paul Pogba or some shit.
