On a personal note, I know there was some talk on the strength of the two sing-off contestants, and I agree with that. It's too bad we couldn't do a Final 3 finals, because the judges and I agreed that we wanted a Final 2 finals. Also, I didn't want to do a whole new batch of themes to decide the finalists, since we were sort of running out of good themes anyway, and especially since that wouldn't be fair to Pegasus.
I tip my hat to the 3rd place contestant, and good luck to the 2 finalists. The finals will essentially be one big round of themes. That will be up tonight if we can finalize the themes.

Well, there you have it. It was a good run, but I bow to the superior man. RadcapRadsley, you're a hell of a competitor. Not too many people get to the finals, even fewer get there twice, and I can only imagine the number of people who went back to back can be counted on one hand. Don't take this for granted, man. I know you've got what it takes. pegasuswarrior, you've won this game before, and I have every reason to believe you'll do it again. Rad's a tough out (as evidenced by me losing 3-1 to him for the second time in a row now  ), but you're just as good. I wish both finalists the best of luck. They've earned it. Should be a hell of a finale. As for me, I'm not sure what I'll do next time one of these rolls around. I'm sure I'll have a whole new bag of tricks, but maybe I should take a season off. Maybe I'll judge. Who can say? But the journey from 6th out to final seven to final three is one I never expected and one I'll always take pride in. Thanks to the judges and host for a tremendous season. It was an honor. I'll see you all in the reunion thread. |

Sad to see you go, Waffel. I always likes your picks, except when I didn't. I hope to see you again in future instalments and that you will at least stay in spirit for the finale to comment on the doubtlessly merciless and gruesome battle between Rad and Peg.

 Almost feels surreal to win this singoff particularly cause Avalanches,Sufjan and a few other of the artists you chose this season were basically my "save for emegency" artist . Waffle,you really had a lot of kick ass songs this season and ran the gamut with different genres. Whether it's next season or down the line I am sure you gotta another deep run in ya and definitely a top contender to win at some point in the future.

Last time I'll pop in before the finals go up: I was actually giving strong consideration to using a Paul Simon song (which will go unnamed here for obvious reasons) back at the double dip round before I changed my mind and went with Belle & Sebastian. |

THE FINALS!RadcapRadsley pegasuswarriorYou two outlasted all the rest to end up in the Final 2 of FAN Idol XI! Now there will be one more round to decide our 11th champion. This is the time for you both to step up with your best songs. In other words:  Here's how it will work: It will basically be 7 different themes with 1 song each. Those songs will go head-to-head, basically like a 7 game series in sports. Judges will vote for 1 winner out of the 2 in each theme. Which ever contestant wins 4 or more head-to-head themes will WIN THE GAME! (TIE BREAKERS: In case the 7 game series ends in a tie, the tie-breaker will be total votes for the songs. If there's still a tie, another tie-breaker is planned.) Without further Apu, here are the 7 categories: 1) Free Choice - Any song regardless of genre or content. 2) Self Boast - This one chosen by Waffel, because YOU beat out 13 other contestants, so a little gloating is well deserved. Send a song where the singer basically says "I am great!" in some way or another. 3) Song From Artist From Eastern Side of the Globe (Europe or Asia or Africa or Oceania) 4) A Love Song (Happy Valentines Day!) 5) A Song Performed Live On A TV Program 6) "The End" - A 'goodbye' song of some sort, perhaps one that would be played in a funeral. 7) Free Choice WITH the option to double dip an artist! (This is the ONLY theme with the double dip option FYI.) Please send one song for each theme.

I wanted to comment already, but I figured I'd be quiet and let the judges do their thing. I'm glad you said something though. I've been biting my tongue. I have to wait until judging is over to say one other uncanny, otherworldly coincidence. But I'm with you. It truly was eerie when I saw the songs posted. |

Was waiting for the Final Two to comment, but I'll get the ball rolling.
Fantastic Finale that, at least song-wise, played out a bit as expected: couple of very popular songs, more indie music, some fairly obscure but recognizable gems, and surprises to be found. The two finalists also switched up a bit so that it was harder to discern who picked what. Very high level of play and both contestants should be proud of the competition displayed here,
