Even though I haven't really shown much of it here, I really love drawing and in fact, I am currently writing a comic. However, I feel like what Id raw tends to be the same old, same old so I would like to force myself to draw more varied things in order to sharpen my skills and I would also like to train to work fast, especially since many pro artists agree that if you want to get really good, you should fill one pad a month.
So, I decided to create this thread where people can commission any sketch you want, be it mundane, fantastic, serious, comedic, original, fanart, etc... my goal being to complete one sketch a day. Do keep a few things in mind though:
- Make sure it stays within forum rules. This one seems obvious but I want to make it clear;
- Much like the movie experiment, it works on a "first come, first served" basis. Only request per person at a time and obviously, I won't take a second one from the same person until I am done with the one I am already working on. I will also enforce a 1-week time limit in between requests from the same person;
- Even though the goal is to draw one sketch a day, I make no promises and some may take longer;
- While I happily welcome creative requests, please try to keep it somewhat simple as, again, I'm trying to make those daily or at least as frequent as possible;
- I will probably not colour the sketches as that takes a considerable amount of time. I might go back to an older sketch and add colours if I feel like it and I might add colours if I finish a sketch early but for the most part, expect them to be black-and-white;
- I have a DeviantArt account (which I haven't used in ages) and I intend the sketches there so make sure you are cool with that before making a request.
So that's it for the rules. Below is a portrait of an original character I just finished (and the colouring alone took about a day, hence the above note about not colouring the sketches) to give you an idea of my style. Oh and last but not least, if you are an artist as well and would like to show off your own work or even do your take on the requests, go ahead and do it. I would love to see other people's interpretations of these concepts.
