I just got wondering, there's plenty of guys who aren't Bret or HBK in the ring, but we can still point to a single match and say "that was great, that is their standout match." I'm thinking of guys like Batista, who had a classic with the Undertaker, or Nash who has that Bret match in his back pocket. But then you have your Kanes, X-Pacs, Chavo Guerreros, Mark Henrys, etc. Even a Dolph Ziggler. People who've been around forever but there's not a match you go straight to and say "that's their defining good match." I thought it'd be fun to try and assign some.
As OP I will of course be contributing very little - the only one that comes to mind is for Mr Kennedy. The match that stands out for me is a very fun match he had against HBK at Armageddon 2007. It wasn't like, a huge deal, it was actually quite a simple little story but it's the best match that comes to mind when I think of him.

X-Pac (well, as the 123 Kid) had an awesome Raw match with Bret Hart and a short but great KOTR match with Owen Hart, both in 1994. Just sayin'...

Ambrose is the only Shield member without a definitive best match. Like really the best Ambrose match I've seen was against Del Rio of all people on a Raw.

Mark Henry and Big Show's best matches were against each other in that 2011 feud.

You could have left off the "Just sayin'..." and still have made a valid contribution to the discussion, since the point of this thread is to nominate a definitive match and discuss it. Just sayin'. But you're right, I'd forgotten the Bret match. Great shout. Thinking about it, I love basically every Regal match I've ever seen, but I can't think of one that stands out as his best. Another of my favourites, Lance Storm, I'd give him the Jericho match at the first One Night Stand, though I've only seen his WWE/WCW stuff.

imo Regal's best match was with benoit on Velocity. Lance Storm is definitely a guy who I can recognize as a good wrestler but I can't think of any stand-out matches he's had.

This very thing used to bother me about Booker T. I always liked him, but.can't think of any good matches.

Not WWE, but I'd consider Kennedy's best match against Kurt Angle at Lockdown 2010, easily

Never understood why Chavo was part of the SmackDown Six. Didn't have that big match & felt more like a mechanic.
Though it never helped he lost to Jacqueline, Hornswoggle, & his own dad in WWE.

My two top picks are Jake the Snake Roberts and Ted DiBiase, although I guess you could take the Coal Miner's Glove match against Duggan.

Ambrose has had plenty of amazing matches.. which is why it confuses me when people question his work. All of his matches with Rollins including the FCW ones, his matches with Regal, the match with AJ, the matches with Kevin Owens for the Intercontinental Title.

Ambrose has had a ton of great matches, if we go by singles then add...
VS Rollins in a Falls Count Anywhere Raw match VS Rollins in a Hell In A Cell VS Rollins at Elimination Chamber VS Rollins at Money In The Bank VS Owens in a Last Man Standing IC title match VS HHH at Roadblock for the WWE Championship VS Styles at Backlash
If you mean his #1 best match? It's up for debate. If you mean great to amazing matches he's had all these quality. Personally I say the Styles match or one of the Rollins matches were his favorite.

Mark Henry and Big Show's best matches were against each other in that 2011 feud. Them destroying the ring with the superplex. Big Show's Macho Man elbow drop at Survivor Series. That was good stuff. Exactly everything a monster vs monster feud should be.

Goldust. Always solid and has had some fun matches but nothing really sticks out. Not best but most memorable is probably his Backlot Brawl with Piper at Wrestlemania XII
