Didn't see a discussion thread for this season, so thought i'd make one. Just finished watching episode 1. I must say what a return to form. {Spoiler}Action sequences were freaking awesome. Loved Ollie using more trick arrows (an arrow to electrify someone, an arrow that opens out into a parachute, then there was the call back to the pilot with "I'm sorry, but no one can know my secret" and snapping the dude's neck.
I loved Ollie wrestling with the decision to make a new team throughout the episode - not wanting to put untrained vigilantes on the team, and especially after what happened with Laurel, and that he was still hoping the old team would come back.
Quentin hitting the bottle again after losing his job, Laurel, Donna and not having Sara around, and needing Ollie to talk him into moving on.
Thea enjoying a normal life away from the Speedy suit and not wanting to put it back on and go back, and after being talked into putting it on again to rescue Oliver, deciding never to wear it again after seeing that Ollie was going back to killing.
They touched on it a little but I hope they expand more on how tough it's going to be for Ollie to be the Mayor of Star City and be the Green Arrow too. It's too early to say it's back to Season 1 & 2 quality, but this was an excellent start in going back that direction. |

Zero Oliver and Felicity romantic drama, good action, good villain, interesting storyline with Lance, and an awesome tease at the end.
Damn strong start.

Maybe I need to watch it again, but I was rather indifferent to last night episode. Liked the villain reveal at the end, but the rest was just kind of middle of the road for me. There's potential, but I'm not sold yet.

I liked the episode. Interested to seeing Ollie in more of a mentor role with people who aren't already close friends or family. Also liked seeing the trick arrows make an appearance. And Paul Blackthorne is going to be phenomenal again this season, I can tell.
I know we're going to get relationship drama because it's a CW show, but I liked the dynamic between Ollie and Felicity where it's professional and platonic. I hope it stays that way because it does a world of good for both characters.
