I thought this was a great episode and they tackled the issue very well but I can see a lot of people not liking it. Because of the rules, I'll leave it at that. I thought they did a nice job of addressing the issue and choosing not to moralize either way. Rene is quickly becoming one of my favourite characters. Also, welcome back, Thea! |

Very very strong episode tonight and addressed it in a very balanced way good stuff.
Rene just continues to grow as one of if not outright my favourite character on this show and now I hope he isn't just a one sesson thing would love to see him back next season.

I also have become a big Rene fan. His flashbacks were pretty heartbreaking.
Dinah has great chemistry with Dig. Overall, Im really liking the new team.

I thought Rene was just some punk at the beginning of the season, but I've grown to really like him. I like that he calls Lance and Curtis "Hoss."
I thought the writing was a little heavy-handed on the political commentary, but it was handled pretty well otherwise.

Holy shit, I'm stunned. {Spoiler}I was convinced Chase was Vigilante, even their voices both have a similar growl. So, who the hell is Vigilante? Is Chase Claybourne's son? Prometheus is the best villain since Slade and this is the best season since season 2. Well done Arrow writers. Well done. |

Wow, I woke this morning at 5am to see Stephen Amell doing a facebook live asking if what people post on social media makes people feel good and if it does then hit post. Then I see an article on facebook saying "Prometheus identity revealed" (thank you comic book sites for not putting who it is in the article title) so I figured people were pissed off and that's why Amell was asking that in his fb live video. Just watched the episode myself and I have to say i'm stunned. It makes sense, and I have no issues with this at all, and the episode airing in two weeks time looks awesome because apparently Ollie gets told by Talia who Prometheus is too.
Question now is...who's Vigilante??
Also, how is Ollie gonna continue to operate as the Green Arrow after that press conference throwing that identity under the bus as Arrow being responsible for killing Malone? I know he had to do something but making his other identity public enemy number one seemed stupid because now when he's out as Green Arrow, cops will always be after him again.

Assuming we've met Vigilante before (which I think we need to be the case so the reveal has emotional heft), then who are our suspects?
Talia? Captain Pike? Curtis's husband? Susan Williams?

I think Vigilante is going to be someone that can emotionally devestate Oliver but be someone from an alternate earth much like black siren was.
Far fetched theory but I am thinking it could be earth 2 Diggle.

As for the reveal, it was exactly who I thought it was when I first saw him. Throwing in Vigilante threw me off, but it shouldn't have. |

Man, season 5 of Arrow is very rapidly approaching season 2's level of greatness and the episode tonight, Checkmate, was amazing.

Goddamn, what an episode. Checkmate is probably the best episode this show has done in years, at least in my opinion.
Adrian is up there with Slade and Cavanagh's Reverse Flash in terms of excellent villains.

I love the dynamic Oliver and Adrian have, too. They despise each other and they still have to work together as mayor and DA, respectively. Such a great change of pace from past Arrow villains.
