This movie was certainly a movie.
I didn't love it, I didn't hate it.
Maybe I'm just burned out on Star Wars goodwill after TLJ. They used all the goodwill up on one movie.
We'll see when IX comes out next year.

got to see it, and i really liked it. kind of under whelmed by the significance the gold danglers that Luke took from the Millennium Falcon in TLJ though. it also proved something to me. I'm not bored with Star Wars, i'm bored with the Force/Jedis/Sith/ Dark Side of the Force, all of that.

I'm just not super into these side story movies, I guess. I felt Solo was enjoyable and worth watching once, but that's it. The guy playing Han did a fine job, and it was cool to see his relationship with Chewie develop.

To be honest I first thought of this movie when Solo was first announced:

I'm honestly surprised and a little pleased by how many people enjoyed it. I found it boring and tedious, but perhaps I wasn't in the right frame of mind at the time. I'll give it another go on DVD/digital, probably.

Between the reaction to TLJ and under-performance of Solo, I can see the next few films playing it safer.

I'll give it another go on DVD/digital, probably. absolutely the same boat. And I don't think it's any particular state of mind (I went in wanting it to exceed my expectation) I just think that's the film. It's very average. And boring. But I'm glad some people liked it..*shrugs* different strokes. Between the reaction to TLJ and under-performance of Solo, I can see the next few films playing it safer. Again..who knows. All of this Disney/Star Wars stuff started out very fan-service-y...and then with the TLJ backlash, there came from defensiveness from LF/Disneys part...but this is a serious dent. Episode IX is now far from a huge hit, I'd say. (Huge in the sense these studios aim for)

I had an idea for Episode IX where Rey wants to continue her Jedi training but doesn't know who to turn to. An aging Resistance pilot, Jacen Syndulla, says he may know somebody and starts her on a journey to Mandalore. On Mondalore, she meets up with the planets current leader, Sabine Wren, hoping to get her help, but Sabine keeps stonewalling her. Eventually Rey forces her hand and it's revealed that Sabine's personal bodyguard, who had been masked up until this point, is Ezra Bridger.

Almost like having a goddamn plan for your trilogy is better than handing the second film off to a different director and giving him creative control.

My idea for Episode IX is Rey having to save the local rec center from being bulldozed for a new shopping mall.

My idea for Episode IX is when the newly-christened Millennium Falcon's shakedown cruise goes poorly, Captain-Jedi Rey and crew put her into Spacedock for repairs. But an urgent mission interrupts their Canto Blight-bound shore leave. A renegade force user named Kybok has taken three ambassadors hostage on Yavin III, the Planet of Galactic Peace. This event also attracts the attention of a First Order captain who wants to make a name for himself and sets out to pursue the Millennium Falcon. Kybok's ragtag army captures the Falcon and takes her on a journey to the center of the galaxy in search of the Supreme Being, Jar Jar Binks.

Since we are doing this: My idea for Episode IX is that the actual Empire (Which from what I understand, from the non-movie material, still exists at peace with the New Republic) comes to the add of the Resistance in fighting Kylo Ren! Maybe all the most extreme elements left and joined made the First Order or something stupid? Anyways, this gives many people what they always wanted, hot Star Destroyer on Star Destroyer action. Meanwhile, Kylo Ren in his quest to wipe away the old is attempting to employ the ultimate super secret most powerful weapon even to DESTROY THE WHOLE UNIVERSE!!!!!!! Rey and company rush to confront Kylo, who's project is left vulnerable thanks to the Imperial, and maybe some kind of Outer Rim Fleet, spreading the First Order Fleet thin! The weapon is being built on Naboo by head engineer Jar Jar Binks, who believes it's meant to bring back all the little annie's that have died in the war(s). A countdown to the weapon firing begins just as Rey arrives, and through the course of the movie she convinces Kylo Ren to stand down and usher in a period of peace, which would be new to pretty much everyone in the galaxy. Before they can press the button to turn it off Rose runs in to press the button out of love, but presses it too hard thanks to Jar Jar's poor design. This causes the whole universe to implode, then explode and form a new universe ala the Big Bang. The End.

My idea for Episode IX, dozen of heroes all from all over the galaxy must unite to stop the New Big Bad Evil. he has just recently found 6 gems of massive power that when united give their wielder power undreamed of. we'll call these gems, i don't know, something the Force Gems and he wears them on a steel glove. and while the heroes put up a great fight to save the day and with a snap of his finger, half the Star Wars universe turns to dust. of course the half that does dies is the dead weight of the Star Wars universe. i'm looking at you Jar Jar and Watto!

My idea for Episode IX is that it's revealed that the deadbeat parents aren't actually Rey's biological parents but rather adoptive parents and it's revealed her true father is Lumpy.

My idea for Episode IX is Rey having to save the local rec center from being bulldozed for a new shopping mall. Through the power of Rock And Roll.

It was fine. Nothing I need to see again any time soon, but was enjoyable enough.

Maybe all the most extreme elements left and joined made the First Order or something stupid?. That's basically what happened. The Empire split, with the more extreme hardliners fleeing to the Unknown Regions to form the First Order, and what remained fragmented into a number of independent governments (functioning under strict disarmament treaties), with some being absorbed into the New Republic.
