Meltz also reported Hojo's paycut to go to the E is pretty significant.

{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Shirai lost the World of Stardom Title to Mayu Iwatani yesterday... Another Io Shirai update, which could well be cover... Asuka said something similar about taking an extended sabbatical from joshi and the next month showing up at the NXT Takeover. This is a cover so Stardom doesn't lose more face and fans with both of their top 2 talents leaving within a month of each other.

I think the thing that shocked me the most from this entire thread is the fact Asuka is 35. As for Vince cooling off on her because of that? I doubt it. I think the whole age thing has really started to wane especially in recent years when guys in their high 30's to early 40's are basically becoming huge stars for them, and that's the same for some girls too, like Asuka. Also Asuka isn't the oldest girl on the rosters, Mickie James is by two years, and both are friggen amazing so... yeah, no reason to cool off on Asuka, super good, super over. And if Vince even tries to after they've touted in NXT how she beat Goldbergs Win Streak HHH might take a sledgehammer to his own stepdad

Ive always thought She has some of the smoothest looking skin on her face for any age I've ever seen. In her case 35 is just a number and if vince holds that against her he's officially lost his mind....again.

I assume most Japanese wrestlers move to WWE for the different experience. It's a bit complicated; outside of a very tight few, nobody is coming into NXT making big money. The standard developmental contract isn't huge dollars but is instead just "enough to live on", so if you're coming into wrestling from the indies on a low scale you're doing a bit better and not needing to take on a second job. The big indie names get higher contracts, but it's still a pretty drastic pay cut when you factor in merch and shit, but the trade-off is that even a lowcarder in WWE can still make good money, so once you're on the main roster you find yourself doing a lot better. On that front, only a scant few guys are making such good money that the main roster money wouldn't be huge; the Bucks, Ricochet, a few others, and obviously New Japan's top guys all make that kind of money, but for someone like Hojo, it's a matter of suffering the lower pay now so she can make much better money in a couple years' time.

Meltzer said Shirai's neck injury that she announced at the press conference a couple of days ago is very much legit and that it was WWE medicals in Pittsburgh that discovered it. She won't be starting for quite a while now.

"It is being reported that WWE Officials are requesting that Hojo no longer have elbows. She is scheduled to undergo elbow removal surgery prior to her debut."

She won't be starting for quite a while now. She's already back in Stardom. I'm guessing her neck is bad enough that WWE pulled their offer, and since Stardom and joshi companies in general have no standards they let her come back without thinking/caring about the adverse effects on her long term health. One month is not nearly enough time to recover from a neck injury.

I worry that she didn't get the best treatment, and just took the Tanahashi approach and returned to Stardom as soon as possible. Of course maybe she is okay and is just finishing up with Stardom.

Stardom's English pr dude on reddit basically inferred she's staying. So i'm guessing WWE told her that her neck was too messed up or they wanted her to have surgery or take more time off and she just isn't willing to do that.

Doubt Shirai is in Stardom for anything longer than a Summer of Punk type run

I think this is a strong possibility. I just hope she's not f***ing up her neck.

Wouldn't be surprised if she has decided not to go or if WWE has decided to pull the deal.

Latest from the Observer states that WWE pulled the deal after concern over the neck issues they found in the medical tests.

I'd say it doesnt hurt WWE if Io doesnt come in right now as I think a ton of talent is gonna be signed from the Mae Young Classic thats gonna really fill out NXT and the Main Rosters by means of call ups.
