We've got the annual Christmas song threads, might as well start the annual Christmas movie/TV episode threads!
My personal favorite is Muppet Family Christmas. It is not commercially available, as Disney likely doesn't want to pony up the dough for the song rights.

The usual favorites, such as the Peanuts Christmas special and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
But also Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, and The Snowman.

Vicar of Dibley has some of the best Christmas episodes of any show, and they are all available on Netflix. GO WATCH NOW.
The Christmas Lunch Incident is definitely my favorite of the bunch.
Blackadders's Christmas Carol is another great BBC special. The kindly and meek Dickensian Blackadder learns the virtues of being bad from three Christmas spirits.

Muppet Family Christmas, Garfield Christmas, and Charlie Brown Christmas are all on God-tier level. Christmas is a complete failure if I don't watch these three.
As far as movies, I always watch Christmas Vacation (Of course), the original Miracle on 34th Street, Home Alone, and It's a Wonderful Life. I'll usually scatter in some others throughout the season, but those are 'must watch'. These days I usually avoid A Christmas Story. I don't think I've ever been as burned out/sick of a movie as I am that one.
Also, I am really proud of the fact that no one has mentioned Die Hard as their favorite... yet.

Also, I am really proud of the fact that no one has mentioned Die Hard as their favorite... yet. That's because it's not a Christmas film! I have this argument every year with people. A Christmas film is a film you only watch at Christmas. Would it feel wrong watching Die Hard on a warm July evening? No. Would it feel wrong watching something like The Muppet Christmas Carol on the same night? Yes. Die Hard is a f***ing awesome film and admittedly I do watch it every Christmas but it's just a film that's set at Christmas. Not a film that is about Christmas. You could replace McClane going to visit his family at Christmas with McClane going to visit his family on July 4th and still have essentially the same film (and just change the seasonal references).

When it comes to Christmas movies, the missus and I usually debate between A Christmas Story or Die Hard. And by that I mean, we end up watching the former. Also, I am really proud of the fact that no one has mentioned Die Hard as their favorite... yet. Whoops...

Muppets Christmas Carol, and Scrooged. Also, I am really proud of the fact that no one has mentioned Die Hard as their favorite... yet. That's because it's not a Christmas film! Yep, similar to Gremlins in that regards. Though on the other foot I can watch Scrooged all year round

Oh I'm glad someone finally mentioned Muppet Christmas Carol. That is by far my favorite version of A Christmas Carol. Michael Caine is fantastic.

There's an early episode of Frasier where he's mistaken for a homeless guy and is overwhelmed by the generosity of his 'fellow' homeless people. It's not overdone, which makes it all the merrier.
In terms of Christmas films, Elf is always a winner in my eyes.

Vicar of Dibley has some of the best Christmas episodes of any show, and they are all available on Netflix. GO WATCH NOW. The Christmas Lunch Incident is definitely my favorite of the bunch. Alice's mother was a long time meme in our house ("You did, did you?" etc.) Oh I miss the time there was an actual variety of Britcoms on Friday and Saturday nights...now that all three of our PBS stations are owned by the same station, all we get is Keeping Up Appearances and As Time Goes By reruns. The Mr. Bean episode was great too, of course. And Are You Being Served?..."Ho ho ho, little boy, have I got a surprise for you!" Like the Mary Tyler Moore Christmas (the first one, first season) ... Justice League Comfort and Joy MST3K: Santa Claus and SC Conquers the Martians WPIX Yule Log :-) Mickey's Christmas Carol Muppet Family Christmas (not only is music a problem, but that they'd have to make a deal with Sesame Workshop to use the Sesame Street gang too would be one as well, no? Teared up when I watched it and saw the last scene when Jim Henson is with Sprocket :-() A Christmas Story...and I liked it before it was cool, thank you very much. Some of the B-and-lower tier Rankin-Bass stuff...Life and Adventures of Santa Claus represented!
