If you mean movies that I should only watch around this time, then I will say some of those Lifetime and Hallmark movies. No matter how cheesy they are, they really suck you in.

There's an early episode of Frasier where he's mistaken for a homeless guy and is overwhelmed by the generosity of his 'fellow' homeless people. It's not overdone, which makes it all the merrier. In terms of Christmas films, Elf is always a winner in my eyes. That's a pretty great episode. There's some pretty terrific cringeworthy comedy when Frasier attempts to get back to his car.

One film that I've added to my Christmas viewing in recent times is A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas. It's stupid and low-brow but I've kinda fallen in love with it.

The Snowman (the British animated one) As if that film isn't heartbreaking enough, watching David Bowie is going to be a real kick in the arse.

So this seems the place to ask my question, does anyone else remember a Christmas cartoon about a snowman coming to life because of a magical hat? This snowman is later trapped in a green house and melts.

Forgot to mention the Bozo, Gar & Ray collection of shorts WGN plays every year. They air "Frosty The Snowman", "Suzy Snowflake" and another one with clips from Bozo, Garfield Goose and Ray Raynor.
(Frosty from the 1940s is creepy looking.)

Also, I am really proud of the fact that no one has mentioned Die Hard as their favorite... yet. That's because it's not a Christmas film! I have this argument every year with people. A Christmas film is a film you only watch at Christmas. Would it feel wrong watching Die Hard on a warm July evening? No. Would it feel wrong watching something like The Muppet Christmas Carol on the same night? Yes. Die Hard is a f***ing awesome film and admittedly I do watch it every Christmas but it's just a film that's set at Christmas. Not a film that is about Christmas. You could replace McClane going to visit his family at Christmas with McClane going to visit his family on July 4th and still have essentially the same film (and just change the seasonal references). Gremlins fits the same category for me. It's a fun horror comedy that takes place at Christmas. It's not a Christmas movie.

No love for the Star Wars Christmas Special? No one loves that. No one. -_- It makes George Lucas miserable that it's still out there. So it can't be all bad.
