Mick is notoriously cheap. I'm sure he's got some money stashed away somewhere. Motherf***er traveled and stayed with fans so that he could save money. This happened while he was the wwe champion. Dude has a lot of money, he gets no sympy from me when there are guys who really need help like Rico Constantino. Where is he asking for help? The entire point has been him refusing help from fans or others that offer, and trying to get insured elsewhere, like through SAG through acting gigs.

OK drop the minor political talk that has been burbling up on in here. Foley's net worth according to Google is 15 million. GTFO Net Worth is not the same thing as cash on hand and Net Worth estimations (and that's what they are) can vary wildly from source to source. Also Mick never said "it's 60k and I can't afford it!" He said " it's a $60,000 operation, and I am going to look at some other options before I shell out 60K for an operation" 60k is a lot of money regardless of how much money you have and that doesn't include hospital stays anesthesia and other bills.

I think if this was Vince, he'd drop that amount of money without any thought, but Mick isn't THAT rich

I don't blame him for spending a quarter of his wealth on something when he could leave it to his children.

GTFO Net Worth is not the same thing as cash on hand. and Net Worth estimations (and that's what they are) can vary wildly from source to source. And there isn't much sources outside of Dave Meltzer. WWE Contracts weren't really public knowledge in the 90's compared to what they are now and those ones are just rough guesstimates as well. Hell the first contract that really was kind of public knowledge was Marc Mero's in 1995 because he pretty much the first guy that wasn't Hogan to get guaranteed salary in his contract and tons of wrestlers including Foley were salty expressing there rage public. It's all estimations and even then you don't know what expenses are covered and wasn't covered by the company. I still don't think he's worth that much because dude wasn't on top of the card for that long and I don't think he has tons of book money or stand up career money. Like yeah I can see the dude having an inflated net worth because he lives in a Long Island Suburb with real expensive real estate and I'm sure he bought his house in full in the 90's (property tax must be insane) before housing values went double/triple/quadruple what they are now. But still I wouldn't be surprised if some upper midcarders pre Network 2009-2013 made close to what Foley did with things like PPV Buy Percentages, Gate Percentages, more TV show appearances (SD became a thing towards end of Foley's run) Video Game Royalties, Media Appearances, WWE Movie's, WWE Stock, and just better overall treatment to talent and talent pay structure compared to the 90's. Like yeah the ratings weren't higher but there are way more PPV's, house shows, and stadium shows now then there was in the 90's. Like unless Foley sold a ungodly amount of Merch or had a clause in his contract that he gets a bigger % cut than most guys that carries into his lifetime (George Lucas'ing) or he made a lot more than I expected in ECW/WCW/1996 I don't really see him being worth 15-35 million dollars. Maybe 5-15 million. Edit: But seriously this thread it's like if you're rich you don't ever have the right to complain about the cost of something ever. Nobody likes being duped or forced into paying something that is absurdly high even if they can afford it. You're allowed to voice your displeasure and rich people are human that they just need to vent or seek sympathy. Like this doesn't seem like a humble brag or something inane. Hell as a Canadian what I learned is the American Healthcare system is f***ed that you can dropped no matter how your worth is for one simple missed payment, the ridiculous cost of surgeries, and how hard it is to maintain or get good affordable healthcare. Maybe that's what he was going for mostly.

In reality he probably has 5 million he can touch at any given time and the rest is tied into other things. Like I said before it seems Mick is just looking for a cheaper alternative which is hopefully a legal one because going cheaper is not always safer especially when it comes to your health. If anything this nudged WWE in a little public pressure to help Mick when in reality they probably thought everything was all good on his end since this seem like something Mick had set and done. In any case I hope he gets it done and keeps his health at heart when weighing the financial aspect of it.

Simply nonsense. I'm sorry but this is an absolute joke. I wonder what the people I know as well as the untold numbers of other people who truly can't afford expensive and necessary procedures think about a freaking millionaire many times over claiming he can't get a 60,000 dollar operation because he doesn't have insurance? Not too damn favorably I think it's safe to say. To me it's outrageous and im legit angry he would go public with that load of horsesh8t while there are so many people out there that truly are in a bad spot and likely will never be able to get the treatment they need....unlike Foley who could do it tomorrow and hardly notice or hurt his long term financial future considering how it's well known he's so cheap. Just disgusting he writes that in what looks like an attempt to garner sympathy, raise money, or get the wwe to pay for it...because he has to know fans will contact wwe or atempt to raise the money because many probably think because he dresses like he's poor that means he is. Ugh. Public figure shares health update with fans. Jesus, he's actively rejected funding and told people to give to more worthy causes. As for sympathy? Eh, maybe. f*** Mick Foley for being human and maybe hunting for a couple well wishes. I'm sure you've never posted "man, that sucked" on Facebook or come home and said "that was a shitty day" in the hopes of finding a sympathetic ear. I don't know about you, but if I have to spend £60 on something I'm salty. If I had to spend a penny just for the privilege of not being in quite as much but still in quite a lot of pain I'd be pissed off. There are a lot of ways to take what he's posted. He might have an agenda. He might want attention. He might be disgruntled with American health care. He might be making a point on his style of wrestling. He might even be promoting latex torture porn in some secret code only latex torture porn fans know about. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he seems like a good guy and he always looks out for people. I doubt too many are looking out for him in the same way. I don't get a lot of people who think that because someone has money or notoriety they can't complain or make a point or have an opinion like the rest of us. Grow up. I have minus £112 in my bank today, the Rock has like infinity money in his. He stubs his toe and it hurts just the same as it hurts me, and I'll say "that must've sucked, big lad." I won't say "at least you've got all that money and all them Twitter followers" cos what f***ing difference does that make? This might be my favourite post on this board ever.

I don't even know where to begin...for the record..NO if I had that much money, I would not have the gaul to go online to and mention I don't have insurance to garner sympathy or to even take the chance of given the impression I'm in such diar straits when there are so many in so much worse shape. Instead all he had to say is there are complications that is preventing me from getting it at the moment...but no he mentions the insurance thing for a very specific reason...which he had to know what people would think...poor Foley can't afford his surgery. Give me a break. And just because he tweets something about fans donating doesnt mean a thing. Of course he's going to say that and hell its likely already gotten a lot of backlash because people saw what a joke it is a millionaire a dozen times over makes a point that his lack of insurance is preventing him from getting it. You telling me to grow up shows you have no appreciation for the people who are in a hell of a lot worse position than him with medical needs because that reason alone should prevent a thoughtful person who has essentially everything or the means to, to keep his mouth shut on the insurance.

The more I think about it the more it just seems like a bevy of circumstance. Mick probably wanted to release some information to the fans but instead of stopping short of specifics he went all in.
There's no telling what happen with him and the insurance shit but I think Mick brought up the cost of the procedure because that's a sticking craw for him. The dude is so frugal that that amount of money has probably been stuck on his brain and he can't forget it.
I don't know if he is looking for sympathy or there is an different agenda on his mind but hopefully he does the right thing with his health.

Don't assume that you know someone's finances nor their life because you see some abstract number about their worth.

Cmon.. How can a reasonable and even half smart person not realize that by pointing out the insurance, that some people are going to think he can't afford it and needs help? And How can a reasonable person not recognize the absurdity of someone in his position acting as if he cant get it due to no insurance? Even if he's a cheap skate, or if he thinks 60 grand is a lot of money..he has to know that he is a multi millionare making comments that give the impression that without the insurance or wwe's help, he's doomed to suffer You have to be some sort of monster idiot not to realize how absurd it looks or not realize that. So either hes incredibly stupid, which we know he's not...or he had a ulterior motive for specifically pointing it out. Either way, it's thoughtless to those so much less fortunate than he is..which is the bottom line.

Everyone is losing sight of the factthat Mick lost his insurance due to his own irresponsibility - he did not pay his insurance bill and ignored all of the communications alerting him of this and requesting payment. Ever been late with a payment to a major corporation that provides you a service and NOT hear from that company when they haven't been paid? All major service providers from your mobile service provider to your cable provider to your health insurance provider employ many, many people to pester you and threaten you until you pay them. To achieve this they will call you, send you letters and email you until they receive the money you owe them. But it seems that Mick chose to ignore those communications. Companies, including health insurance providers, are very willing to work with you unless you ignore their outreach until it's too late. Mick Foley's own actions (or lack thereof) put him in this situation.

If Foley isn't fishing for donations--and f*** any backlash he might get, he'd make that money easily, and I don't buy that he's only saying that to try and throw people off or whatever other paranoid nonsense is being spouted in this thread--then I see literally zero problem with what he's posted. Maybe the guy who took place in a WWE-sponsored debate in 2004 in favour of John Kerry is someone who thinks the US should have a different health care system. Maybe he doesn't have much of a filter anymore because of his mental state. Maybe he's just in pain and wants sympathy and well wishes from a devoted following, because "You're in our prayers" might not be much but to someone who loves to give and perform it might mean something to him.
I don't know what guys like Rico Constantino have to do with any of this when Foley a) isn't setting up a GoFundMe or doing anything to take money away from the efforts of helping other people b) isn't shitting on those fundraisers for the people who need them. He's even saying he's not the guy who needs the money, and to give it to people who do need it. Like, I don't know how clear this could be. He's laid out his situation clearly and without doing these things people are accusing him of, then even going back and saying "No, that's not what I meant, please do not do this thing I do not need it" and people are still shitting all over him for it. He knwos there are people who need help more than him; he's given a lot of his time and his money to charity for that exact reason. The only halfway logical understanding I can pull out of this backwards-ass response is the asinine belief that if people are worse off than you are that you're not allowed to complain.
At the core of I guess I just believe that people are allowed to talk about how they feel and that no angry rando on the internet who decides to assume the worst in someone who has been talked about in a positive light by almost everyone who worked with him should be allowed to take that away from him.

Where is he asking for help? The entire point has been him refusing help from fans or others that offer, and trying to get insured elsewhere, like through SAG through acting gigs. I found him to be petty complaining about the surgery when he is filthy rich and other people can't afford it, i also thought he was pressuring the wwe into paying it. I'm just salty I guess, a family member of mine, his bank account is gonna take a hit because he isn't insured and Mick is a millionaire complaining. I absolutely agree. We just had to shell out a few grand for medical expenses because my husband doesn't have insurance. He complaining when he absolutely has the cash bothers me on a personal level. Mick is slowly torching any goodwill he has with me.

Why not go to Turkey? They will do it for 1/4 of the money they want from him for the same thing in US. Sure the hip could be of lesser quality a bit but still.
His best option is Eastern Europe where they do these kinds of thing for dirt cheap. If he is willing to pay almost three times what they charge in some EE country he would most likely get the top notch treatment. He just needs to find the right hospital and reputable doctor willing to take the money and do the surgery.

At the same time though a person has to have a little common sense..a successful wrestler and author who is still on TV, and is a nolterious cheap skate is very much likely to be in a lot better position than most. I don't fault anyone for not wanting to spend the money, even if they are rich...in fact most get rich by not trying to spend money when they don't have to... what I have a problem with is him intentionly giving the impression he's some average Joe out there by pointing out the insurance and wwe isnt paying him or something so he's screwed. If it was just a mistake then own up to it and immediately point out he's hardly screwed.. although again I have a hard time believing someone of his intelligence didn't know exactly the type of impression it would give by pointing out the insurance AND his arrangement with wwe.
