Cmon.. How can a reasonable and even half smart person not realize that by pointing out the insurance, that some people are going to think he can't afford it and needs help? And How can a reasonable person not recognize the absurdity of someone in his position acting as if he cant get it due to no insurance? Even if he's a cheap skate, or if he thinks 60 grand is a lot of money..he has to know that he is a multi millionare making comments that give the impression that without the insurance or wwe's help, he's doomed to suffer You have to be some sort of monster idiot not to realize how absurd it looks or not realize that. So either hes incredibly stupid, which we know he's not...or he had a ulterior motive for specifically pointing it out. Either way, it's thoughtless to those so much less fortunate than he is..which is the bottom line. Everyone is losing sight of the factthat Mick lost his insurance due to his own irresponsibility - he did not pay his insurance bill and ignored all of the communications alerting him of this and requesting payment. Ever been late with a payment to a major corporation that provides you a service and NOT hear from that company when they haven't been paid? All major service providers from your mobile service provider to your cable provider to your health insurance provider employ many, many people to pester you and threaten you until you pay them. To achieve this they will call you, send you letters and email you until they receive the money you owe them. But it seems that Mick chose to ignore those communications. Companies, including health insurance providers, are very willing to work with you unless you ignore their outreach until it's too late. Mick Foley's own actions (or lack thereof) put him in this situation. This. He doesn't have insurance because he or whoever does his bills f***ed up. So nope no pity from me. I don't care if that sounds awful. Health insurance is a super personal issue with me.

If it was just a mistake then own up to it and immediately point out he's hardly screwed.. although again I have a hard time believing someone of his intelligence didn't know exactly the type of impression it would give by pointing out the insurance AND his arrangement with wwe. He's already done that. Would you like a point-by-point breakdown of everything that this tweet both explicitly states and implies, or should I maybe just draw attention to it with big red circles and arrows pointing to it?

Just stating what the situation is regarding his hip since the rumors of his hip surgery have been spreading and stating that he's having it right now.

He should have the surgery
A shave, haircut and some new clothes wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Mick is one of the most charitable people in the world, giving both time and money to numerous causes. Doesn't make him a bad person to think spending 60K out-of-pocket for a surgery is excessive.

Public figure shares health update with fans. Jesus, he's actively rejected funding and told people to give to more worthy causes. As for sympathy? Eh, maybe. f*** Mick Foley for being human and maybe hunting for a couple well wishes. I'm sure you've never posted "man, that sucked" on Facebook or come home and said "that was a shitty day" in the hopes of finding a sympathetic ear. I don't know about you, but if I have to spend £60 on something I'm salty. If I had to spend a penny just for the privilege of not being in quite as much but still in quite a lot of pain I'd be pissed off. There are a lot of ways to take what he's posted. He might have an agenda. He might want attention. He might be disgruntled with American health care. He might be making a point on his style of wrestling. He might even be promoting latex torture porn in some secret code only latex torture porn fans know about. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt because he seems like a good guy and he always looks out for people. I doubt too many are looking out for him in the same way. I don't get a lot of people who think that because someone has money or notoriety they can't complain or make a point or have an opinion like the rest of us. Grow up. I have minus £112 in my bank today, the Rock has like infinity money in his. He stubs his toe and it hurts just the same as it hurts me, and I'll say "that must've sucked, big lad." I won't say "at least you've got all that money and all them Twitter followers" cos what f***ing difference does that make? I don't even know where to begin...for the record..NO if I had that much money, I would not have the gaul to go online to and mention I don't have insurance to garner sympathy or to even take the chance of given the impression I'm in such diar straits when there are so many in so much worse shape. Instead all he had to say is there are complications that is preventing me from getting it at the moment...but no he mentions the insurance thing for a very specific reason...which he had to know what people would think...poor Foley can't afford his surgery. Give me a break. And just because he tweets something about fans donating doesnt mean a thing. Of course he's going to say that and hell its likely already gotten a lot of backlash because people saw what a joke it is a millionaire a dozen times over makes a point that his lack of insurance is preventing him from getting it. You telling me to grow up shows you have no appreciation for the people who are in a hell of a lot worse position than him with medical needs because that reason alone should prevent a thoughtful person who has essentially everything or the means to, to keep his mouth shut on the insurance. The point I was making is that dude's a human being. I think he was genuinely clearing up some speculation, but even if he's complaining or trying to garner some sympathy, he's as human as you or me, and sometimes I'm needy as f*** and want to hear "boy, that must suck" and feel a little bit better that someone's listened. I'm sure if I looked at any of your posts anywhere I could read into them and analyse word by word whatever the f*** I wanted, and that's without knowing the first thing about you. It makes it way easier when Mick's been on TV for 30 years and written books and done interviews and the whole shebang to think you know him. I can admit to using that here. What I know about Mick is that he's cheap when it comes to himself, generous to his family, and generous to those less fortunate than himself. Because of his status, he doesn't just have his family relying on him, but a whole bunch of other people - people living in houses he might own, sick kids who rely on his work and ability to get them money. Organisations that are worse off without his name attached. $60,000 can do a lot of different things, and I'd take my sweet-ass time deciding where I wanted to put it. I dunno, dude. You've already brought up your current situation here, so based on that evidence, I would say you're as likely as anyone else to give details on your situation out on the internet regardless of how much money you have. I genuinely hope that one day you do have Foley's millions, and I hope that it solves all your problems and makes you into the perfect person you're expecting Mick to be here.

Dude made millions off his books alone yet he can't come u p with the $ to pay for his hip replacement. So like a carny, he comes out with the sympathy post. "For those wondering why I just don't pay out-of-pocket, well it's a $60,000 operation, and I am going to look at some other options before I shell out 60K for an operation." Really, Can you blame him?

Really, Can you blame him? Yes. There's only one person to blame for Mick Foley choosing to neglect paying his insurance bill and ignoring all communications from his insurance company after they didn't receive his payment: Mick Foley. This is not complicated: When you fail to pay your bill, companies contact you immediately to both alert you that you haven't paid and attempting to get payment. When you ignore these communications the companies more aggressively try to contact you and leave messages and emails letting you know that if you don't pay your service will be disconnected or policy cancelled. What everyone is missing is the fact that service providers usually will work with you and make arrangements to avoid the consequences. Mick is an adult who should have communicated with his provider and avoided cancellation instead of whining on social media acting like a victim when it's his own fault.

I see what you're saying and I don't dispute that. But now that the past is the past and it can't be changed. I'd like to discuss the topic at hand which is the fact that Foley would rather find a way to get someone else to front the bill rather than pay it himself. Which is what most people would do whether it be a needed operation or a meal at McDonalds. I didn't see him say he wouldn't pay out of pocket, but if there is an avenue to take that means he doesn't have to, Why not make the attempt? I'm not saying it isn't a little sleazy and openly discussing his plans to do so are only going to hurt his chances. However I also don't fault the man for trying to find a way to get a free operation if the opportunity is there. I have the money to buy a new car right now. But you're damn right I would take a free one.

But you're damn right I would take a free one. I understand what you're saying but the root of this issue is Mick's own fault. Consider that Mick began his social media post mentioning that in the last four years health insurance companies hands been sending out letters saying that they were no longer covering families. Whether Mick had experienced these letters in the past four years or he was just sharing a tidbit is unknown but I'll assume he did. So knowing that this was happening, Mick was able to find a company that would and did insure his family. But instead of making it a priority to keep his payments current, Mick not only didn't pay but he also ignored all communications from the company when payment wasn't received. Now, because of his own awful judgement, instead of having medical insurance which would cover his hip replacement (with very minimal out of pocket costs), he is uninsured and the surgery would cost him up to $60K. Deal with it Mick, it's your own fault. The most disheartening thing about this which really disturbs me is learning that Mick is receiving no medical care for the issues he is clearly experiencing as evidenced by the continuing deterioration of his mental faculties.

He should have the surgery A shave, haircut and some new clothes wouldn't be a bad idea either. In the old days he could go to the town barber for all that and get some dental work done to fix his missing tooth. Someone call Brutus Beefcake.

He'll call Foley and say "Yo....Mick....bro...how about a Medical Insurance on a Pole match?"

Dude has been in and out of work on TV for years, has several kids, and is so banged up his daughter is pretty much his carer, so a "real job" is out. It wouldn't surprise me if his WWE and book money has all been drained by life in general. He's got a rep for being cheap, I doubt he went through all of that coin. He's got a net worth of $20 million. Dude is loaded, he just doesn't want to spend the 60 grand. because of his rep for being cheap. he'd rather garner sympathy, and try and make it look all sad instead of paying full price for something. $60,000 is a lot. But it's not a lot when your net worth is something like $20 million. He could make that off interest alone. But by all means, go start a GOFUNDME page. Need to use that money to waste on TV's you can break.

Open enrollment ends January 31. Yeah, Mick will have a 2000 dollar monthly payment for coverage, and a 3000 dollar deductible(maybe 5000) but the man needs coverage, and he is making the money. If he doesn't have it, he's getting penalized $2085 when he files his taxes. Sadly, this is not an uncommon scenario. I haven't had insurance all year(can't afford it), is that really the penalty? No, it's the maximum. It's 695 per adult or 2.5% of your income.

Mick's cheapness centres around making as much money for his family while he can, and leaving as much as possible for them when he's gone. He almost certainly suspects medical bills will eat into his fortune in the coming decades, so from that standpoint it makes sense to shop around.

Like an automobile though people need to sometimes tuneup their body. If his main goal is leaving an inheritance to his kids,he should look at that 60K of a hip replacement as something that keeps him healthier longer so he can do more conventions,GM more episodes of Raw,do more paid media appearances etc. Mick is like the dad who will scoff at shelling out a few hundreds of dollars for a plumber not realizing the alternative might be thousands of dollars down the line in damage.
