Its name means tyrant lizard. Thought I missed a Raw where somebody shot Brodus Clay. They'd be sure to inform his mother, post-haste.

Yeah if you mean America then obviously, but worldwide that is absolutely not true. I did mean the US. I didn't think that needed to be explicitly stated, given the context of the conversation. Fair enough, I thought that college sports being that huge in the US was so obvious that it didn't need to be stated at all. Crossed wires all around.

Apparently not, since that particular thread begin with someone stating how bizarre they found it that US sports sites covered college sports with equal energy as things like the World Cup. No harm done.

Yeah, Anyone will probably have heard of ZZ Top or Ozzy Osbourne, but who in crap are Al Sharpton or the cast of Macgruber?

Kathy Lee and Hoda. I only knew who they were because my mother is a 60-year-old white woman.

Nah, Tiger Woods was world level tier famous. For what he accomplished in golf? Sure. But this segment was a shot at his activities off the course, so it wouldn't make sense to someone who doesn't follow those celebrity gossip rags. Heck, I'm American and I didn't understand what WWE was going for with that.

For a non-US example, they had a boxer on once from Europe. Big deal in the world of boxing, but I had absolutely no clue who the f*** he was. IIRC, that was Ricky Hatton. He was the guest host one week when Raw was in the U.K., so they actually gave some thought to having the guest host being relevant to where they were that week.

Doesn't help I barely follow boxing at all.

The home of the Sun and Daily Mail, of course they're gonna be all over that.

Even though I'm from the U.S, I remember when they had that U.S astronaut Buzz Aldrin host Raw in Canada, and the crowd couldn't give two shits about it. That makes me sad. He was one of the first two humans to set foot on the Moon. You gotta know who Buzz Aldrin is! It's not like a hard name to remember And he is probably the guest host to be famous for the best of reasons. Like he's probably the most meaningful and accomplished guest host ever. Like dude is a f***ing astronaut who went on the moon and having Buzz Lightyear named after him. Like come on!

Oh wow, I was there live at the Ricky Hatton UK Raw. Having flashbacks to how utterly dull and boring a show it was. We got more amusement out of the girl behind us whose sign said "Jhon Cena" 😂

Love how this always begins as a call for obscurity. Quickly evolves into accidental confessions of lack of awareness and cultural absence.
Apologize, WWE, for my lack of familiarity with things!

I'm British and knew who most the guest hosts were no problem.
The absolute worst "only Americans will get this moment" are the video packages and patriotic crap they play on every public holiday or the tribute to the troop shows.

I'm lucky because I watch most of the American sports (except hockey) so I'm one of the few people outside the US that gets their sporting references. But anything relating to American tv or pop culture goes way over my head. When they had their guest host era I only ever knew the sport related ones (but not the car racing ones, but that isn't really a sport anyway!)

Shasta McNasty in 1999 WTF was Shasta McNasty? A godawful tv show with Verne troyer(mini me in Austin powers) and jake busey. Premise is a band that got signed and then the label goes bust so they go through hijinks in order to pay bills

See, I only even know who that is because once Wikipedia had a list of people who died on live TV for some reason
