College Basketball and Football does big business Even so, I don't watch college sports. I'm convinced that there's too much emphasis on sports at post-secondary institutions. It's downright unhealthy with all of the scandals revolving around it. That has been a problem. There's a reason why there are no more NCAA games because the players want their money. College Football and Basketball are basically the "free" developmental leagues for the NBA and NFL with that def falling on college football. Simple point is that for places in US that doesn't have a professional sports team, the college team is who they route for and the big corporate big wigs through money to they alma matters so they always be in top. Scandals has been going forever and the most vicious being SMU being given the "death penalty"

Ethical or not it happens. As I just pointed out with SMU. Everyone does it but only a few are stupid enough to get caught. It's not about the pro sports using them but more so agents using the pro sports as a crutch on these kids and the same goes for the colleges. SMU was offering players cars, houses, and giving them spending money for expenses but they got caught and was severely punished. Reggie Bush had his Heisman stripped because in order to get him USC gave his family a house and people found out about it. This was the worth risk for Reggie Bush because he got drafted in the NFL and made money. The college system is a big corruption and only the few get caught

Re: Art Donovan, I don't know why Vince or someone else with influence didn't just feed Gorilla a line after the first match like "well Art, we really appreciate you sitting in with us to get King of the Ring started" then have him escorted to the backstage area during a pre-taped bit, when it became blindingly obvious that Art didn't have a damn clue what he was doing. Macho and Gorilla could then have continued the PPV without him.

Even as an American football fan who actively follows the NFL, this felt like a reach to me. It made sense, because SmackDown was in Green Bay that night and the Packers had just won the Super Bowl about a week earlier, but Clay Matthews wasn't exactly a household name at that point. If I remember correctly, I believe the story was that WWE tried to get Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers in that spot but he declined and after some last-minute shuffling, they reached out to Matthews and he accepted.
For the soccer fans on this forum, it would have been equivalent to Riyad Mahrez counting to three during a championship match last May after Leicester City FC clinched the Premier League championship. Sure, he's a big name in soccer circles but most people over here in the United State would have little to no idea who he is.

Vince was actually not there at the PPV, he was out for back surgery at the time so that makes a little more sense why that was allowed to happen.

I do find it funny how some non-Americans are listing some of the biggest Z-List celebrities in this thread like if people in America know who they are. I guarantee you only wrestling fans know who K-Fed was because of wrestling. Americans were just as confused as you when he appeared on TV.

The biggest moment I've had like this was that episode where Mark Cuban guest hosted. Legitimately had no idea who he was and by the episode came to the conclusion that he was an actor. He is in a sense.

Mostly just the sports stars. "Hey look, it's Jimmy Jack Johnstone from the Cincinnati Wildcats!" Oh....okay. Obviously that doesn't apply to people like Shaq or Floyd Mayweather. How dare you. Jimmy Jack Johnstone single-handedly won five sportsball World Bowls for the Wildcats. Show him some respect. I got a Jimmy Jack Johnstone rookie card from when he played for the Twin City Turtledoves. Bought it from Don West. That was a Gem Mint 10 day I'll tell ya.

I think it's safe to say the pool of people that would be globally known is so small and so unlikely to participate that we might as well be wishing for Ramses II to crawl out of his tomb to put over Roman at Wrestlemania.

College Basketball and Football does big business Exactly. I'd wager that big time College basketball and football is significantly more popular than the world cup. No. Not even close.

What about that chubby British girl who was in a backstage segment with Nikki Bella on Smackdown a few weeks ago? I was confused as she was British but I had no idea who she was.
