Main event sounds awesome like expected. However. Is it now four years since a CHIKARA Trio has even sniffed the Final?? Jesus...
Also House Rot not being able to complete or find a replacement third is DUMB. THEY DO THE RANDOM HAT THING ALL THE TIME... IT'S A KING OF TRIOS TRADITION...

I'm more surprised that WWE ok a intergender match that involves one of their champion and wrestlers under contract with them.

Once again CHIKARA finds a way for me to have complete apathy towards a King of Trios finals.

This basically put credence to my theory that the British talent are WWE's first real example of independent contractors for years. Less control over their indie bookings but are there if they're called upon. WWE making deals like that is goddamn bizarre considering.

Ruby Riot, Candice LaRae, and Abby Laith have all been noted even by commentary for their ability to fight male superstars twice their size or more.

So what were the full results? I've seen nothing on the RDV's, Tag Gauntlet, or extra matches...

But the key difference being that stuff happened outside of their WWE contracts. This was a match with three guys who are, as far as we know, signed to WWE in some capacity.

The Campeones won the tag gauntlet.
I'm not happy. For the second year in a row, the tag gauntlet has an idiotic result. Would it kill Quack to actually do something with the tag division instead of just leaving it to die?

So what were the full results? I've seen nothing on the RDV's, Tag Gauntlet, or extra matches... 1: Sendai Girls b. Casa Dorada 2: British Strong Style b. House Rot via forfeit (Frightmare not cleared to compete) 3: Officer Warren Barksdale b. Chief Deputy Dunne 4: Fire Ant b. Kobald (match lasted barely a minute, Fire Ant hit two Beach Breaks) 5: Los Ice Creams won the Tag Gauntlet (Millie McKenzie & Omari, Cajun Crawdad & Hermit Crab, The Rumblebees, Dez Peloton, Emeritus Midnight & Vasyl, The Throwbacks, #CCK, Adam Chase & Zayas and The Hunter Brothers) 6: Merlok b. Sylverhawk 7: "Ophidian" b. Jody Fleisch to win Rey de Voladores 8: British Strong Style b. Sendai Girls to win King of Trios

What was the point of the Tag Gauntlet? It's an obvious set up for challengers, it's pretty much the only reason it exists outside of the spectacle aspect of it.
Use it.

Would it kill Quack to actually do something with the tag division instead of just leaving it to die? King of Trios as a whole has been pretty friggen bleh these last few years maybe outside of the Final Match. But we could also say that about CHIKARAs presence as a whole.

Yeah............I think I'm done with this company for good. Which is a real god-damn shame as for years it was my favorite wrestling promotion, but it's just gone straight down the toilet, and I ain't talking about Kobald, either.

I'm surprised the Xyberhawx weren't in the gauntlet match. They were over there so why not? I don't mind Los Ice Creams winning because I didn't expect it. I don't think the tag champions ever won that event before. I thought it was obvious that Whisper / Ophidian was winning the Rey de Voladores and House Strong Style were winning Trios so I don't mind the upset. My favorite thing coming out of the weekend has to be Fire Ant's push since it felt like he fell into the background since the Colony disbanded. I'm sure there was a lot more great stuff that went down but I'll have to see the shows to give any further thoughts on it.

Damn, it's been five years since KOT 2012 and I remember being so excited when I read the results. When it came out on SMVOD, I watched all three events on my day off in one sitting. Five years later, I have no excitement and if it hadn't been for this thread I wouldn't have known that KOT was happening. I went to the first and sadly the only card Chikara held in Milwaukee. It was held at the Miramar Theatre, a tiny hole in the wall building that housed two-to-three hundred fans tops. Got to meet Chuck Taylor, Tim Donst scared the shit out of me, Bryce Remsburg complimented my shirt and I got to take a picture with Dasher. It's probably my favorite wrestling memory and I saw the birth of Austin 3:16 and the return of Hulk Hogan. It's a shame really. I'd love for Chikara to rise back up again to that level but I highly doubt it'll happen.

Once again CHIKARA finds a way for me to have complete apathy towards a King of Trios finals. As much as I said it was "LOLWorthy", I had nothing against it. It does sound awesome though so I might have to sniff that out. What? Would you rather have Colony/FIST again? (Seriously, I remember when that was the final in 2011 and people in here COMPLAINED ABOUT IT...I miss those days here)

Haven't seen anyone talk about it, but "ophidian" had a dreadful performance in the RDV final, screwing up moves left and right, quite clearly shouting SHIT when messing up a springboard hurricanrana to the outside. Even after the springboard screw-up, after delivering the rana he hit the floor so f***ing hard I thought they were going to have to stop the match (I was sat on an aisle seat in the entranceway). Everyone kept singing "You're not Ophidian" at him as well, poor guy.

Yikes...
I always thought Whisper was getting by more on his discount Kevin Condron/Vin Gerard gimmick than necessarily his ring work but that doesn't sound good.
Part of why Ophidian was such a great talent, and still is, is that while it took him a while to get a full handle on his character work he's been a great character and a great wrestler for years now. He also had the great benefit of having his formative years being in a tag team, which helped conceal some of his rougher edges from time to time. Heck, the same could be said for a lot of the talent of yesteryear that we look back fondly on.
For example, half of Dasher's problem for the longest time was he flew solo for most of his CAW days. Which led to a lot of people being much more critical of him than his contemporaries that were in tag teams and trios that were just as rough, but had other people to fall back on.
Didn't help every time he was starting to turn a corner, CAW with the SSB & Ultimo Breakfast, it felt like they yanked the rug out from under him or just didn't follow through. The latter issue haunted him even into his Dasher days.
Part of me hopes Whisper doesn't get the axe like Kodama. But part of me also says what's good for the goose is good for the gander, and fair's fair, you boot one person over that, you should not play favorites.
