I don't think her following is anymore out of hand than some other pop stars who've achieved a similar status. I don't think she's necessarily the greatest pop idol ever, but you can't deny how talented she is, or her charisma. The way she presents and carries herself to me makes it totally understandable why she was able to become such an icon in this era.
If anything, I don't think Beyonce gets ENOUGH credit.

Everything she does, Tina Turner did 100 times better anyway.

At least she has actually done something. I'm more annoyed by the crazy worship of "celebrities" that are famous for a so no reason.

I will admit, it did make me chuckle to see a friend on Facebook say something along the lines of "How come some people are complaining about 'the world stopping' for Beyonce right before they spend all Sunday doing nothing but screaming about football?" Couldn't think of a decent devil's advocate retort to that.
But yeah, fans will be fans; the hope is that things don't get out of hand, but unfortunately in any large enough population sample you're going to wind up with folks who can't handle themselves well.

I will say at least Beyonce is doing something worthwhile. I'm still reading stuff about Mariah Carey, and aside of that New Year's flub, I can't think of one thing she's done in the last 10 years worth reporting on.

She's a nice lady and if people like her act, great. I don't, but it's just a matter of personal preference.
Celebrity gossip has been around since the entertainment industry began. It's just now there are more platforms for it to be shared, so it's more saturated and annoying. But it can be avoided for the most part.

Yeah it's kind of creepy, but let's not act like it doesn't exist in the world of professional wrestling. Remember the Mickie James era that led to some pretty over the top threads here. Heck one of her fans threatened to blow up Titan Towers, that's crazy. AJ Lee had some pretty obsessed fans too. But yeah never got the obsession thing. I always have favorite wrestlers, but I can't say I have ever been completely stalker worthy obsessed with any of them. Then again I interact with real people and realize celebrities are just people that are famous.

I'm friends with a girl on Facebook, that, when the pregnancy news came out, was talking about how she's not a fan, because Beyonce is so overrated. That news is days old, now, and she's STILL talking about it, lol. Like I said, I'm happy that she can is expanding her family, and while she is talented, I just don't see the worship.

Speaking of wrestler obsessions, the Tumblr fandom for Dean Ambrose was insane. Man they hated Renee Young when there were mere rumors that they were dating. When it became official, they went ballistic.

For the most part, any Mariah Carey news is not positive. If anything, she's mocked and has become a running gag nowadays. It's sad, considering how great she was 20 years ago.

Sure, but football season goes longer than that; the point is more about over the top fandom for anything, really, since most of our collective favorite pastimes really aren't much better or worse than people being into somebody like Beyonce. There'll be plenty of people who'll whine about the attention Beyonce gets who'll get themselves into fist fights over a game, or something along those lines.

Even on this board we've seen it happen.

She was the least talented of DC, but the most marketable. The last member of Destiny's child was a local girl, heard nothing but praise about her. Are you serious? Like I love some Letoya Luckett and Kelly Rowland but Beyoncé is a much better singer than anybody in that group.

The amount of worship Beyonce gets and how Jay Z transcended from a rapper to a powerful executive mogul is enough of a reason for me to believe there is smoke that they are members of an all powerful Illuminati. DDP is the luckiest naive bastard to get out alive for mistakenly using the Illuminati symbol as the Diamond Cutter symbol and later suing possible High ranking Illuminati member Jay Z over the hand gesture. Or maybe he just had a good business mind...and Beyoncé is really talented.....

Pretty much agree with everything in this thread. Her fans are really annoying, but she's good at what she does and more power to her for doing it and being famous for it. I still like her better than Taylor Swift, who is finally experiencing her heel turn. Is she really? A heavily biased Snapchat post that was supposed to "end" her, and she still sold a ton in 2016 despite doing little more than performing one show to a sold out crowd at the Formula 1 track. Plus she's got the lead single from the next 50 Shades movie. There's always been detractors who do the slut-shaming dance. It's just been the go to insult about Swift for the last 6 years.

Actually, I should've said that fans are turning against her and backlash appears to be larger than in previous years. A lot of it seems to involve her character more than her music. But some of it sorta involves politics, so I'm not going to go there.
