So the recent news of Beyonce being pregnant with twins has once again shown that celebrity worship is creepy and insane. First of all, good for her and Jay-Z, because obviously having kids is a happy thing for a lot of people. However, when Beyonce does anything, a lot of people act like she's the first human being to ever do it.
I will say that she is a fantastic artist and it's no surprise that she is a role model for women, but man some people really need to calm down. Remember when her Lemonade album came out and people went crazy sending death threats to women they thought were "Becky with the good hair"? Then Rachael Ray was also targeted for some reason. There was even a Buzzfeed "article" where the dumbass "writer" was praising the fact that Beyonce seemed rude to her assistant.
People really need to stop thinking that celebrities are gods or special snowflakes.

Oh god I couldn't agree more. So sick of hearing about her. I mean she's an ok enough singer but I don't get the level of love or attention she receives right now.
I'll say this for her, she's hella good at what she does in the sense she's crafted this cult around her. So I'll respect that hussle. She has minions that would eat from her palm and pay for the right to do it. That's her greatest strength, the ability to market herself as something to be worshiped.

Kids are awesome, and I'm happy that she is expanding her family, but, I've never seen the reason why people give her that worship.

She was the least talented of DC, but the most marketable. The last member of Destiny's child was a local girl, heard nothing but praise about her.

Pretty much agree with everything in this thread. Her fans are really annoying, but she's good at what she does and more power to her for doing it and being famous for it. I still like her better than Taylor Swift, who is finally experiencing her heel turn.

The creepy cult worship for some celebrities just has to stop. I have my favorite musicians, actors, etc, but enjoying their art (and sometimes their charitable efforts as well) is where it ends. I don't mean to come off as judgmental, but I can picture these folks having a full-blown altar with candles, pictures, and everything, for their favorite celebs. I genuinely don't understand that level of worship for someone you'll probably never meet.

I get aspects of where the fan devotion comes from, how it goes beyond just the music itself, but yeah, I'm not comfortable with being that big a fan of any singular figure. Humans are human; being THAT big a fan, the type that threatened "Becky with the good hair" or whatever, just sets a person up for immense disappointment when they realize that humans are inherently flawed.

Stanning for any one person is a really bad idea. Beyonce in particular has a lot of stans that think she walks on water and defend her to ridiculous degree. Sometimes it even gets violent
And this tends to tie in with "problematic faves" on some social media culture where people are expected to be perfect and any flaws or imperfections, no matter how minor, are considered "problematic."

Well, that ties into the fact that the internet(and society as a whole really, but it gets particularly venomous online) loves to build people up just so they can break them down. I remember a time when John Green was the most beloved person on tumblr, but then, when all that adoration started leading to actual material success for him in the way of movies and shit, the mob almost INSTANTLY turned, and I would see people who six months ago were riding the guy's dick talking all sorts of shit about what was wrong with his books, his movies, and him as a person. Apparently the same shit is happening now to Taylor Swift? I dunno. Beyonce will get her turn in that weird cycle eventually.

Never been a fan of her solo career, except for one song she sang in Dreamgirls. Also, not a fan of her performances. But whatever, haven't been with it since... 1997 probably.

Im a big fan, but I am biased.
I met her once and talked to her at length in the VIP tent at a musical festival in 2012.
She couldn't have been nicer. Super friendly and down to earth.

Yeah, if she went in to full retirement, had a long happy life afterwards and was never heard from again, I would be fine with that.

I don't even remember what the trigger was for John Green turning from "pure cinnamon roll" to "privileged scum." I understand it for Taylor Swift, seeing as she's sort of White Feminism™ personified, but the violent reversal of course from internet darling to pure revulsion is another example.

The amount of worship Beyonce gets and how Jay Z transcended from a rapper to a powerful executive mogul is enough of a reason for me to believe there is smoke that they are members of an all powerful Illuminati.
DDP is the luckiest naive bastard to get out alive for mistakenly using the Illuminati symbol as the Diamond Cutter symbol and later suing possible High ranking Illuminati member Jay Z over the hand gesture.

I think people are desperate for royalty and attempt to ascend certain couples to that level... there was a point where Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were that couple. I mean, granted, I'm out of the loop so I'm not sure if this Beyonce stuff is well beyond that point but I don't see it as much different than any other celebrity power couple.

Didn't we use to do this to Elvis, and the Beatles, and so on and soforth? She only gets this kind of praise because most mainstream pop music sucks ass, nowadays, and almost anyone from every demograpic can get down to a Beyonce tune. It only seems so bad, because she might be the only one left doing it. She's the face and Kanye's the heel.
